What a great podcast! Anat Shenker-Osorio is brilliant. Her ideas, though well-known to the right wing, are sooooo necessary for us liberals to hear. Her vision helps explain why popular progressive policies so often are defeated by fringe conservatives with better messaging. The podcast is also tightly produced and sharp -- not one of those meandering "two guys rambling on about their coffee and the weather before finally getting around to the topic" podcasts that stretches 15 minutes of content into 70 minutes. She clearly took care to craft this material into entertaining, insightful, succinct stories/illustrations. BRAVA!
Please make more episodes :) - I can't wait!

During the run up to 2020 with everyone debating which candidates “can win” — often the person who spews the most pablum— this reminds me that anyone / anything is possible.

One of the things that's been heartening about the Trump era is how quickly so many people's political analysis has sharpened and their engagement has deepend. While this show is certainly helpful to people working directly on campaigns, it's really for anyone who wants a more sophisticated understanding of the shocking effect different words and stories have on shaping our reality. And hearing stories of victories? That just plain feels good.

Progressives, this is the messaging advice and philosophy we’ve been waiting for. Anat Shenker is freaking brilliant & has worked around the world on underdog campaigns that saw victories traditional political consultants thought were impossible. Curious how the amazing Jacinda Arden became prime minister of New Zealand? There’s an episode for that!
And, Minnesotans, there is an episode dedicated to the 2018 Greater Than Fear campaign.

Anat Shenker-Osorio is one of the most brilliant, insightful, courageous and unequivocally genuine human beings ever to grace this Earth. She is touched by genius and completely unafraid, rushing into lion's dens all over the globe. This collection of work is great tool and source of inspiration and education: language is a form of magic, and the power of our words is something we do not take fully into account. Anat is here to guide and empower. Thank for this essential podcast!

We would have progressive people-powered majorities up and down the ballot and be able to pass laws and make policy grounded in racial and economic justice accordingly. Highly recommend.

As someone who writes and talks about politics regularly as a blogger and podcaster and activist, I want EVERYONE I know who is in any way involved in political messaging to listen to this podcast. We HAVE to get this right and Anat lights the way in an easy-to-digest and easy-to-listen-to way. Five stars. Heartily.

The more I think about it the more I am certain that disciplined messaging is crucial to securing material rights for citizens in a democracy. I've been a fan of ASO since reading her book but this podcast makes the info so much more accessible!

I was hoping this podcast would be good because I think the underlying political messaging strategy (race-class narrative) is smart & effective and needs more attention. But I didn’t realize Brave New Words would be quite this good. Highly recommend.

This podcast reveals how “narrative shifts” happen, from the groundbreaking work of ACT UP during the bleakest days of the AIDS crisis in America to 2018 in Minnesota where the “Greater Than Fear” campaign demonstrated how to tackle the right’s strategic racism. If this sounds like what could be the template for a 2020 Democratic victory, now you’re getting it.

Revealing stories of victorious campaigns with the common message of not using the opposition’s narrative to defend one’s own and instead using your value messaging to connect and convince. Enlightening and so interesting for the curious bystander who wonders, “Now, how did on earth they do that?” Brava, Anat!

And made me INSPIRED and EXCITED - which can be manna to those of us who often find ourselvess slogging through our days despite the positive mission our work leads us on.
Anat's case studies each provide detailed explanations of the messaging cycle from ideation through execution and each provides a profound example of the ways in which a progressive campaign accomplished a seemingly impossible goal.

Excellent examples of people uniting across differences to win progressive policies that change people’s lives for the better. With so much wrong in the world, there aren’t a lot of successful pushes for equity and justice to learn from. It’s great to get the insider look at six different success stories all in one place. Can’t wait to apply the lessons contained in this podcast!

Anat’s analysis, through the various campaign examples, paints a pretty clear picture for the way forward to victory in 2020. I hope and pray (and will be organizing, too) that candidates on the left take heed of the advice these examples provide. The stakes are too high not to!
