The Father I Never Had

I am a 42 yr old, single father and firefighter who has walked a precarious path. I first discovered
Dr. Jordan Peterson on Realtime with Ball Mahr on 4/20/18. Since that interview, my life’s trajectory pivoted, as I became a student of his books, podcasts, self authoring program(60,000+ words), and various youtube lectures (including his epic biblical series 3X over). I lost my father in a horrific manner during my formative years. Doctor Peterson has become the critically empowering voice which myself, and many others have so desperately needed.
Thank you sir. Thank you for teaching me how to think and for your indelible service to mankind.

Jordan Peterson is an important intellectual who has for years been like one crying out in the wilderness. He was ignored or dismissed as an alamist by many, blowing anecdotal evidence out of proportion. And has been under constant attack by those who fear the clarity of his arguement. It's been five some odd years since I became aware of him and the cautionary tale of which he spoke has now come home to roost. In the wake of COVID 19 and 4 years of Trump our institutions are engaged in a full blown culture war that could rip apart our democracy and lead us to God knows where... We've lived in such stability for so long we cannot imagine an instable world as we continue to swing the hammer striking at the foundations.... while telling ourselves, everything will work out. And yet he isn't a catastrophist, he encourages people to take responsibility, to work towards something and carry a burden for family and community. Love this podcast!

Thank you for voicing the logical truth. Your episode with Prager and Carolla is one of my favorite but I also value your educational lectures on religion.
I work for one of the largest companies in the world. As a young man I was drawn to this company because it’s service to the world as well as the integrity of the work. As a 50 year old I am disgusted by the notion of systemic racism. For 20 years my company has directed us “don’t bring me a candidate unless they are a minority or woman” in that order. I have witnessed the corrosion of the company through the lack of concern with excellence and combined the relentless drive for performance. The result is people with a lack of integrity and a culture of cheating in order to meet standards.
I have now been forced to be vaccinated in lieu of a demotion. My company is now lead by an outsider and many people that did not ascend due to merit alone. It will continue to deteriorate. It’s very sad.

I have been a fan of his books and lectures for years, particularly his series on the Bible. That said, over time his podcast is becoming increasingly devoid of interesting discussion, culminating in his latest episode with Adam Carola and Dennis Prager. Listening to three extremely rich men on one of most popular podcasts on the planet whine they have a lack of influence or power is infuriating and tone deaf. Dismissing all Palestinians as a problem, spouting false information about covid, saying all educators are people who can’t compete in a real world. It’s not an educated podcast anymore if it’s a mouthpiece for people to spout ignorant opinions backed only by extremely biased personal opinion.

I have made the choice to be home with my four children. I love homeschooling them and being there for them. But I crave simulating thinking. I have read many of the great philosophers in college and love that I have finally found a place where ideas are discussed with respect and the desire to learn truth. Thank you so much!

I thoroughly enjoy listening to this podcast, even though I’d consider myself further left than Dr. Peterson and most of the guests. The conversation is always interesting and helpful. You talked over Andrew Doyle and rambled for long stretches of time. You interrupted Warren Farrell in the middle of a sentence continuously. Both men have a lot to say that I wanted to hear. Why invite these brilliant people on your show and then not let them talk? If you want to create a podcast where it’s All Jordan All The Time, go for it. I won’t listen, but someone might.

Ever heard of editing? This podcast is a jumble of recorded clips inserted in an illogical way. No cohesion. Is it a rough cut aired by mistake? And the alarmist descriptions of things they don’t agree with as “harrowing” and “mortifying” is hyperbolic and not effective to me as a listener.

I usually relish each podcast as an intellectual treat amongst all the chatter out there.
That’s why I found your discussion with Dr. Thorn so distressing. His unchallenged prejudice towards what he clearly considers his mental inferiors was stunning. How any research could be taken seriously when done by a man with a clear axe to grind against conservative thinking is hard to fathom.
How you held your diagnostic tongue when he was describing the clear source of his lifelong vendetta against his perceived abusers.
Clinics Separation anxiety as a result of his parents mishandling of the death of his “2nd mom” .
Regardless of your particular politics, you often offer greater resistance to clear falsehoods or mischaracterization’s.
Hope you’re feeling well.
Your podcast with Yeonmi Park changed my life.

Greatest thinker of our time

Dr. Peterson is the greatest thinker of our time.
There isn’t a subject he encounters that he doesn’t fully submerge into and willingly digs into every corner of the mind and makeup of us to find and present what we are all too lazy to realize. Listening to him not only brings deeper understanding but also with it duty to be the best you can be and always for very good reason.
Never a waste of time listening to him. God has allowed this man to have understanding of much but the payment is torture to his spirit.
As the saying goes “ignorance is bliss” which Peterson has none.

Dr. Jordan Peterson is a brilliant, heartfelt, honest, courageous man. He shares his thoughts and life’s journey with humility and a true love for all people to help his experiences and knowledge make our lives better. He is a truth seeker, balanced by his professional experience as a psychologist giving him an amazing grasp on what it means to be human and his ability to truly listen to those people he interviews. This balance allows their life experiences to mold his, giving him an understanding of humanity and the purpose of life that creates a mental sculpture that only he possesses but which he shares in an extraordinarily beautiful way! So magnificent that, if alive today, even Michelangelo and Leonardo de Vinci would be captivated by it!

Probably one of the best (and “deepest”) podcasts I’ve ever heard.
I’m a “podcast junkie” and often find myself listening while doing other things, BUT I cannot handle any distractions with the JBP Podcast— It’s much too “deep” and detailed (for me) to listen without giving it 100% of my attention and even then have repeated shows to find even more nuggets of truth.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom.

Jordan is a prodigious thinker and speaker. Less as a listener. That’s why it’s much more fulfilling to watch him give lectures. However in interviews he interrupts so much, to the degree that I feel embarrassed for the speakers. It’s not even like a dance of conversation.
He asks them questions, answers it himself, when they get a rare chance to talk, he’ll stop them ask them a totally different question. This doesn’t make it dynamic but scattered and times actually disrespectful.
Jordan, please read this, listen to the feedback, try your best to address this issue of giving your guests space. Give them space.
Love you JP

Frankly much of the content is intellectually over my head, but some of the smartest people I have ever heard with deep conversations that are a healthy antidote to the sound bites of most media outlets. Our younger generations would do well listen and listen closely. Thank goodness for something tangible that has the guts to discuss the real issues in a meaningful way. I love Jordan Peterson and think he’s an extremely intelligent individual. Listening to him helped further burden my understanding of psychology. That being said I also find the individuals he invites to his podcast entertaining and worth listening to. The only issue I have regarding this podcast is the amount of interruptions when the other intellectuals are speaking. They also have a perspective I would be interested in hearing, and would better understand if they weren’t cut mid explanation. Other than that it’s an amazing podcast, very riveting.

I really enjoy Jordan’s perspective and philosophical insights. However… I prefer it if he tone down the alpha a little bit as I know his frontal lobe can catch fire and not interrupt his guest so much. I too interrupt a lot and know it’s hard for others to complete their thoughts before moving onto the next one. Albeit still a fan.

I’ve been listening to JBP for 5ish years now. Having grown up in a fairly religious family and followed the religion for decade, I came to cross roads 2015. To me, I was joining the world of one side vs the other that I had been raised with and for the most part guided my life to take on life’s responsibilities. The idea that I had to literally believe in a mystical being or I had to believe “science” made me feel there was no answer. When I first listened to JBP debate Sam Harris on his podcast, it was revelation in what can only be interpreted in numerical experience that Jung talks about. JBP put words to a third way that to me was always hidden. I knew religious/ meta physical experience happen and there is something basic to religion that was valuable but couldn’t
reconcile the need to prove one truth or the other. After listening g to JBP dozen podcast on the Old Testament I felt reenergized. I also found myself turning away from what can only be a nihilistic turn in my late 30s. I could now understand religion, scriptures in a new more relevant way that has much deeper meaning.
Know what blows my mind is the rage, anger and all effort to destroy Peterson. From blatant misquoting like the “enforced monogamy” vs “forced monogamy” thing, to the anti feminist Kathy Nueman attacks. They don’t make sense if you have listened to any of his podcasts.
In the end if you are a personal looking for the ideal for your self and not hiding your resentment for life behind slogans and ill-conceived philosophy then you will find this podcast as the Reason podcasts exist.
