Excellent Podcast

No one can imagine what this Podcast had done for the Indian epic. Do not miss this. Instead of going through numerous books or for that matter just reading one book is very tedious job for us in the day to day life. This podcast made "proud" to every Indian who like to know much details about this story. Excellent narration of stories with indpeth analysis of different version and I enjoyed it. Thanks for this Podcast. Great Job !!!

Compelling and non judgemental narrative! Excellent work!!

Thank you for the wonderful podcast. I have read different versions of the Mahabharata so many times over the years and have always found the story enthralling. Its refreshing to listen to your version of the story in a non judgemental narrative. This effort is also more commendable considering you are not an Indian. Thank you for for producibg and narrating the story. I must say your narrative style is quite compelling. I always log in wanting to listen to one podcast per day, but find myself compelled to continue even after 2 or 3 podcast hearings!! :)

Down to earth

When you hear stuff from somebody who's not your everyday, freindly neighbourhood Hindu, a lot of objectivity steps in. It was a different experience from everything I had heard about Mahabharata right from my grandmother's lap to the present gurus. Without judging, simply put, it makes you think. Keep it up!

Good job

Being an Indian, and a 19 yr old, i never thought i would actually take interest in Mahabharata, but kudos to you, great podcast, good narration too. You explain very nicely, even though, some of the things could get complicated, even while telling. Your pronumciations are not bad either ;)
Just started listening, listen to 2 episodes everyday, good job!

Elixir of life!!!

Having been raised n lived in india where the great epic seems to have taken place is yet not learned or known to a country with the largest population in the world. Yr efforts are really brilliant n I see you are well considering all the available versions to give a full view .. It's tough sometimes as you mispronounce the way everyone sounds but it's Sanskrit afterall!

Thank you! :)

The amount of effort you must have put in researching for this podcast is amazing. I especially love the way you put your own thoughts and ideas in places, and how you omit the irrelevant sections. I've finished all 59 installments in less than 2 weeks playing it everyday to work and back and I'm gonna be very sad tomorrow without the next episode. Eagerly awaiting the next installment. Thanks a ton!

Mahabaratha

Excellent work. I am a good fan of you. However kindly avoid some sensitive parts in your language. Hope u know that lots of religious points are mentioned in this story so small twist from u will give a very bad image of the religion. Particularly to youngster

Great effort!

Thanks a million for putting in so much effort and time. I spent this weekend catching up on all 51 episodes so that I could be up to date on the story so far. Now I can't wait for the next instalment to come!
I'd last heard the story told verbally by my grandparents some decades ago. Then, it was all piety and holiness that dominated the narrative. It's nice to hear a less reverent style of narration. I think this particular epic is better listening to, than reading it in a book or seeing it dramatised on a screen.
So thanks again. Please keep up the good work!

Thank you!

Great quality podcast. Thanks Lawrence for undertaking this monumental work and producing another way of knowing this great story for generations to come. It is a story with infinite learnings and because of your efforts, you have made it accessible to the whole world. Listening can be sometimes much better than watching the story being played out, since, the creation of scene being described can be as great as one's imagination.
To anybody who has been lucky to reach this podcast, thank your stars and subscribe to the podcast and get a taste of this great Indian mythology. Magical story for your magical devices.

Detailed

The podcast covers the epic in detail and also has a critical review of some instances where background detail missing. Pronunciation of names needs to be ignored. I have to admit that few times characters or situations are poorly analyzed. Overall, it's a good way to enjoy the epic story. Thanks for making this Podcast.

The Story

I stumbled upon this podcast accidentally, downloaded it and never listened for a long time. Last two weeks started with the initial episodes and could not stop and have listed to all the 20+ episodes at every free moment I managed to get. As someone with more than a passing interest in mythology(Indian, Greek, Roman), I should say the author brings the right mix of critical scholarship and deep empathy with the spiritual elements of the characters and events. I especially love the use of contemporary language that keeps the material accessible. Very highly recommended. If you read this Lawrence, do know you have a fan out of Bangalore.
