“The Resonance of 4th April” is column of Asma Shirazi which was published on BBC News Urdu on 4th April 2023.

The column relates the importance of date 4th April. On 4th April 1979 former and first elected Prime Minister of Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was hanged as a result of a military martial law which is known as a Judicial Murder in the history of Pakistan. That was on the pretext of suo moto proceedings of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. This year again on 4th April, the top Court of Pakistan, it’s judges and judicial conduct came to focus when again political matters were dragged into the court by invoking suo moto jurisdiction of the Chief Justice of Supreme Court. 

In this column Asma Shirazi related the situation in country which is at times power centred by either establishment or judiciary to discredit the role of political class of Pakistan. Hence public at large is the ultimate sufferer while country is dashed with economic meltdown. The overpowering policies, technique and moves have resulted in a chaos while responsible are taking a back seat.
