Nimrita Dadlani on building spaces for the divorced & separated

Nimrita Dadlani talks about launching a safe space for those going through divorce and separation, conceived through her own experiences.
Time: 1:00:57
After going through divorce, Nimrita Dadlani co-founded 'Pivot' - a digital platform set out to create a safe space for those going through separation & divorce and giving people the chance to gain the appropriate access to the advice they may require. In this candid conversation, Nimrita spoke to Shyama about the difficulties she faced to find the available options and support when she was going through a relationship breakdown. She also touches on what it was like transitioning to being a single parent, getting back on her feet and working out how to live a life that she never thought she'd be living. Coming from a very close-knit, British Asian family, Nimrita also expresses how the subject of a broken relationship is still seen as a taboo and how the support of her loved ones has allowed her to lead a life that she is proud of. With 'Pivot' on the cusp of launching, hear Nimrita speak passionately about how she aims to provide trained coaches to her clients so that they don't feel alone and unheard and instead feel confident in navigating the process of their divorce, no matter how daunting it may feel.

Description

The Voice It Out Podcast with Shyama and Amrita is a platform created by two British Asian women, Shyama and Amrita. In the first season they looked into topics which were relevant to women and, in particular, British Asian women. In the second season, it attempts to prompt discussions around the split identity, and what it means to be British with a strong influence from ethnic heritage - no matter your gender. Though the hosts both come from very similar backgrounds, they have had very different experiences in their lives, which spark some interesting conversations when attempting to navigate through and balance the British and Asian cultures. Now, Shyama and Amrita have opened these conversations to include guests, who have their own personal stories to tell of the trials and tribulations they have experienced in finding their own sense of self, while trying to make the most of different cultures. Many of these guests have created their own paths in their lives and careers and this podcast gives them an opportunity to talk to Shyama and Amrita and delve into the different ways they have learnt to deal with the crossroads they often face with being from a mixed identity.
