Description
When a patient presents with common symptoms not attributed to known conditions – shortness of breath, chest pains, heart palpitations or fainting – consider checking for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). It is estimated that 1 in every 500 adults living in the U.S. have HCM, but a large percentage of patients are undiagnosed. HCM is the most common form of genetic heart disease and can affect people of any age, yet it often goes undiagnosed. Which of your patients is undiagnosed? Learning more about HCM will ensure you’re better able to discuss its impact with your patients.
