The story opens in the year 1774, when the mighty Mughal Empire, which had ruled the Indian subcontinent has crumbled, leaving the Punjab in chaos. Ahmad Shah Abdali the ruler of Afghanistan and the scourge of the Sikhs, who had wrested the Punjab from the Mughals has also passed away recently. The Sikhs, who are organized into twelve bands, known as The Misls, have stepped into the power vacuum and have become the de facto rulers of the Punjab. The young chief, Maha Singh Shukerchakia is mentored by Sardar Jai Singh, the patriarch of the powerful Kanhaiya Misl who arranges his marriage with Raj Kaur, daughter of Raja Gajpat Singh of Jind.  Maha Singh becomes a powerful chief whose Misl starts to rise as the power of the mighty Bhangi Misl declines. There is great rejoicing when a son is born to Raj Kaur and Maha Singh. The boy is named Ranjit Singh.

Blessed

As a Sikh, I have heard stories about Our Gurus but never get to learned the whole history of Sikh and the Gurus. After listening to this podcast I can say that I am blessed to learn so much about my religion. I hope it helps a lot of people. May Waheguru bless all.

I consider it a great blessing that this podcast was introduced by the writer himself. The story deserved to be heard worldwide and no one would've been more befitting than Sarbpreet Singh who with his soothing narration exuded all the virtues of the guru Sahibs and made it all the more endearing. It warmed my heart in all ways possible. Grateful to the entire team behind this wonderful initiative. This provided me with solace when circumstances were testing, hence emotionally connected to it!

Much needed refresher of our rich Sikh history

I have heard my mom and grand-moms telling Saakhis. Listening to this podcast was a great it puts everything together in a chronicle order and gives more insight into our core principles and how they came into being. Highly recommended!

I came across this podcast after listening to an talk of Sarbpreet Singh ji in Karwan heritage YouTube channel .After listening to this podcast ,I was really impressed by the extraordinary story of the Sikh gurus and the values they stood for ! As an South Indian ,not much is known to us about the Sikhs or their faith except that they are brave and play an prominent part in the Indian army ! This podcast made me realise that the path of Sikhi was revolutionary for the time it was born in ! Sikh dharm stood for gender equality , sovereignty , dignity and justice ! Guru Gobind Singh by establishing Khalsa made sure Sikh dharm does not get diluted with passing of time !
