I started watching many contents on Jio Cinema as they have the HBO shows and movies etc. but the biggest issue that I and many many others have faced is the advertisements.

I first thought that these were coming so frequently as it is free and I am watching all the content without paying anything, so I made up my mind and took a subscription worth 99 INR per month. To my biggest surprise they still show the ads at the same frequency 😅 a 35 mins episode involves 7 advertisements and each of an average of 40secs. This adds approx 9 more minutes to the viewing time.

I guess the content that jio has now should have remained where it was all this while with Hotstar at least they did not promote everything and anything in a small episode of 39 odd minutes.

I am very disappointed with the entire user experience. It’s very frustrating to keep watching ads in every 5 mins. Please do something about this else I am happy to cancel the subscription and watch other things elsewhere.

This is the first time ever that I am writing a bad review, I am so incredibly frustrated with the app, it’s performance and the incessant ads that’s shown every 5 minutes even for a premium user.

In a 20 minutes show I am watching at least 5 minutes of ads and you can’t even play it in the background like you’d with a normal show, on the phone you have to keep your device open so that the ad can play out. I feel like companies are paying money to get their customers irritated, I am never going to use the products whose ads I have seen hundreds of times. And every time I pause my show and come back to it, the ads play again??!!! Like why?!! Aren’t there spots supposedly when an ad is supposed to play, why is it playing so frequently?

The content is good enough to lure a customer to buy premium membership so I bought it but it has too many advertisements. Viewing a series or movie on jio cinema is even poor than watching it on a tv channel. They have crossed all limits to frustrate a user. It has also been a pity for something like jio to hold such a worst platform, I understand that they are doing so much of free stuff but content management and advertisements frequency should be different for a free user and a premium member. This is powerhouse of money in India that is backing it but I don’t understand that how their team for this ott could be so inefficient. Hardly you see any content recommendations and their continue watching feature is also failing badly. It was much better in the times of voot which they overtook and gifted us such a misery. Watch movies on the TV (shazam and Fast X) in jio app there is issue in sound quality, very low sound compared to other app like Prime, Netflix, Disney about 60% low sound and sound effects not working properly on the movies 3. Picture quality for movies need to improve such as full screen 4. If you are saying it is TV issue then I can tell you how others apps are working properly. 5. My god such a terrible experience to use it. The app started getting better and then they decided to HIDE the “continue watching “ section so low on the page my FOD. You have to go through all these cricket and shows just to get to your shows. Extremely annoying to scroll so much that too scroll on such a slow app. The issues are listed below - Takes forever to load anything. - Lags every five minutes. - ADS even after I have PAID for a subscription. You can never pause in the middle and come back to it at a later time. - Once you stop watching, you have to restart all the way from the top. - New episodes don’t get updated, so you don’t know which shows have new episodes coming up. - will lose connection in the middle even when the wifi is connected and working. The app itself will lose connection. - you will get ADS even if you have paid for the subscription. - randomly in the middle of episodes, it will reload and you have to find where it randomly stopped. I have no idea how this app has not been banned on appstore and playstore till now, even after so many bad reviews from genuinely frustrated customers.

I think unless this gets banned the people behind the app will take no action to solve any of those issues.

This application can be so much more. There is so much scope and yet I see absolutely no efforts in trying to fix any bug whatsoever.

Major issues

1. Keeps freezing every time I start a new episode or want to continue an episode after a while.

2. Incapable of storing data and letting us continue an episode where we left it. If I have already watched an episode for 45 min and want to continue the rest 10 min later, I have to fast forward the whole episode to reach all the way to the end because “continue watching” is a joke here.

3. And Ads, OMG the amount of ads. I don’t mind buying the premium to avoid these ads but the amount of issues you have on this platform makes it impossible for me to want to spend even a single penny here.

4. Why some ads suddenly have the highest volume ever? It’s so annoying, I might just go deaf soon.

Suggestion:

All this money JioCinema is earning, try to invest in improving the user experience. User is the only thing which will help you survive in the market.

PS Please do not suggest me to uninstall and reinstall the app in my TV. It’s so 90s. Proper app updates (only if you have fixed any bugs) is the right approach.

I have logged in on my Samsung tv with premium subscription just to watch a couple of web series which are exclusively available only on this platform unfortunately.

Even with premium paid subscription, the app starts every episode with an ad and then while starting the next episode, gets stuck every single time.

The loading wheel keeps on revolving constantly.

I have tried clearing the app cache and restarting my tv as well. But this issue persists everytime when one episode gets over and next is about to start.

I don’t usually go and review apps even for some of the bad ones. But this one here made me come here and put a review. It is that horrible. Even after paying for premium subscription, there are incessant ads every few minutes. That’s pathetic when you are competing with OTT giants in this space.

I am sure this is just a business tactic too frustrate users with crazy load of ads and then launch a new subscription asking for more money for ads free version.

I understand that monetisation is required to run any app and it can not be free. But the premium subscription need to mean something. With this way, you are going to start losing customers because i am sure i am not going to renew my subscription once current one is over.

Another issue i have with this app is frequent pop-ups asking for personal data. Perhaps for user profiling or selling it further to earn money out of it. It looks so cheap. Why do you care which car i drive???

Last thing, your resources at backend are not enough. Frequent app crashes. First deliver good experience before asking for money. Learn from the likes of netflix.

I think its time to get your act together or you will be just another app on the AppStore.

Hi Team, What you have guys done on this app. The app is funded by the country’s biggest business group and you cannot even create a stable app. The biggest loot of this app is even though we subscribe the app(Rs 999), app doesn’t provide add free watch. I was forced to download this pathetic excuse of an app as my subscription was with Voot and had to be carried forward from there.

In spite of being a paid subscriber, who has paid around ₹1500 to be a so-called premium subscriber, I have the same issues that everyone else seems to be facing with this app: An irritating, extremely buggy app, which thinks that it has to crash every 5 minutes. I am beginning to think that the people behind the design and running of this app know nothing about how to design and run an app, and a kid with basic coding knowledge could probably design a better app. The other issue is, in spite of being a paid subscriber, I am still forced to watch ads when I watch anything on this app. Even worst is the placing of these ads, which seem to pop-up anywhere and everywhere, with no consideration about the placement of these ads, which almost always interrupt the content that I am watching abruptly (Case in point - I was watching a song, and the ads came right in between the song, interrupting it and completely ruining the experience).

I know all these reviews will fall on deaf ears as the people behind the app are the richest in India and one of the richest in the world. So will take this as a sort of way to vent out about this pathetic experience.

This app is the worst experience you can have on an iPad. It doesn’t even rotate. It freezes constantly content loads deplorably slow and in bad quality. The Ux is from 2008. You cannot download by seasons but by individual episodes and you have to click into each episode to have the option to download, thus you have to endure the same LiciOus ad every single time after praying a premium.

This app is a crime against the content it hosts it has a burnin with the name Jio cinema on all content completely taking you out of what you are watching.

HBO needs to launch their own service it’s deplorable to have their content in Ambani’s dirty armpit of an app.

How has even Apple allowed this disgrace on their AppStore they need to revoke this.

Huge fan of Reliance but this app is not it. One star by me. Reasons:

1. No tier to completely remove ads. Even the paid one has ads every 15 minutes. No fun in watching a movie. Why should common people be treated like this? Imagine showing a movie to VIPs with ads every 15 minutes. I don’t care about money just give us an higher ad free subscription tier.

2. After watching one full minute of ad if I scrub forward immediately, I have to watch another one minute of ad. It happened to me once 4 times in a row. For full 4 minutes I was watching ads, without seeing even a second of content. This after charging me annual subscription? Maybe acceptable for a free seevice.

So many glaring issues, none yet resolved.

This app has so many obvious performance and interface issues, yet the developer seems stubborn enough to ignore them. Why does an app specifically developed for iPads have orientation lock? You can only go through the app in portrait mode, which many seldom use while using video streaming apps. Also, the free content has an unbearable amount of ads, and there seems to be no escape from them even if you have subscribed to their highest tier membership plan. The ads seem to break playback, wherein after its completion the entire video player crashes, and you have to reopen the video which you were watching. There are so many other issues, and i hope that they address all of them soon.

New releases like Bhediya, Vikram Vedha etc don’t sport 4K resolutions, like most of the hindi content does not have the option to watch in 4K (I bought the subscription thinking that we get the access to 4K content like that). The sound quality is bad, interface is bad, and I am still encountering ads even after buying the premium subscription! Like what’s the purpose to waste ₹999 on this useless subscription that they are offering?! This app need serious improvements, especially, they need to organise content. Like create special tabs for HBO content, another for Paramount Content, another for Voot’s OTT content, another for Colors TV content etc. Also wondering why are they still using the name Jio Cinema? First off all app does not start without internet so I don’t know why Jio provided facility to download movie or series? Very very disappointing when you download a movie and to watch downloaded movie you need internet connection, I feel Pitty on this thing, why should anyone use your app?

Why spend so much in acquiring content when you do it have the capacity to stream it seamlessly? And not to forget the ADs even with a premium subscription… I have never seen this much greed on a paid subscription model before, on top of that videos can’t resume where you left off so that one has to see the ADs all over again before you resume…. Look at the UI for Disney and I miss it so much for my HBO shows, even on cricket streaming half the time the live stream is laggy and in very poor definition. To summarise please invest on your interface experience rather than focusing on monopolising the market. I don't like to watch too much movies or series but I enjoyed the first part of "Asur" so I started 2nd part and from first part this app is behaving like it is made by 1st standard guy. I already uninstalled this app many time and reinstalled again.

Sometimes it run ok sometimes not. I'm hearing eco in back,the voice is running back and video is running ahead. I'm using 14 pro max and I have Jio 5g + Wifi with high speed too so no network issue. still don't know what's the reason app is not working properly..I reached 8th episode and still I have to uninstall 3-4 times in a day..each episode I have to reinstall again and again..Ads are going easily no problem in that but then this app starts lagging.

One thing i came across is that it is slowly stealing my phone data and asking for some very private informations . My battery consumption increases automatically in background as such it is stealing my data and it is also against apple community guidelines, it is forcing user to switch away from apple iphone . A show i watched recently in it is influencing people that it is better to use oneplus than iphone and trolling iphone battery backup in it . Moreover it is also forcing users to buy jio sim only and tracks user private data like what sim he is using and after that message start coming on his phone , to switch to jio . The user interface is also poorly designed, with a cluttered layout that makes finding movies or TV shows a cumbersome task. It's incredibly frustrating to spend more time searching for content than actually enjoying it.

To make matters worse, Jio Cinema's customer service is abysmal. I encountered a problem with my account and attempted to reach out for assistance. However, their response time was excruciatingly slow, and when I finally received a reply, it was generic and unhelpful. It's evident that they lack a competent and responsive support team.

Considering the abundance of streaming platforms available today, Jio Cinema falls short in every aspect. I expected a better experience from such a well-known service provider, but they have failed to meet even the basic expectations of a streaming app.

Save yourself the frustration and avoid Jio Cinema at all costs. There are plenty of other streaming services that offer superior performance and excellent customer service. Don't waste your time and energy on this subpar app.

I was watching the trending series a few days ago and I had most annoying experience 😖

If we hit an Ad in the middle of an episode, the screen freezes and when I went back to see if streaming buffers or not, the episode starts at 00:00. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Not only that, unlike Netflix/Prime Video, the Video Scroller does not have click-and-move option. I had to use remote to move forward to continue the episode where it was stuck cause of Ad. But doing so only allows to me to move ahead 10sec per button click. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Imagine having a 2.5 hr movie and the Ads came at 1.45 hr. How long I need to push into forward button 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I don’t like to watch too much movies or series but I enjoyed the first part of “Asur” so I started 2nd part and from first part this app is behaving like it is made by 1st standard guy. I already uninstalled this app many time and reinstalled again. Sometimes it run ok sometimes not. I’m hearing eco in back,the voice is running back and video is running ahead. I’m using 14 pro max and I have Jio 5g + Wifi with high speed too so no network issue..still don’t know what’s the reason app is not working properly..I reached 8th episode and still I have to uninstall 3-4 times in a day..each episode I have to reinstall again and again..Ads are going easily no problem in that but then this app starts lagging. Ruined this thriller.. worst experience.

I recently purchased a premium subscription to Jio Cinema. I was excited to try out all of the features that the premium subscription had to offer, but I was quickly disappointed. The premium user experience is terrible. The app is slow and laggy, and the features are not well-integrated. The UI is also very cluttered and confusing. I found it very difficult to find the features that I was looking for.

I am very disappointed with my experience with Jio Cinema. I would not recommend this app to anyone, especially not to anyone who is considering purchasing a premium subscription.

Also, why are you guys playing ads in premium subscription.
