Description

British comedian Adam Buxton talks with interesting people. The rambly conversations are sometimes funny, sometimes more serious with funny bits. Adam makes the jingles and records the intros and outros for most episodes while walking with his dog friend Rosie in the East Anglian countryside where he lives with his wife and three children.
Adam has appeared in films such as Hot Fuzz, Stardust and Son Of Rambow as well as a variety of TV shows in the UK. Since 2007 he has hosted BUG, a live show that combines music videos and comedy that became a TV series on Sky Atlantic in 2012. From time to time he also does live shows featuring just his own material. Along with lifelong friend Joe Cornish he also is one half of award winning TV, radio and podcast duo Adam and Joe.
You can find many of the jingles Adam makes for the podcast as well as bonus material, merchandise and a selection of funny and brilliant YouTube videos on Adam's website: adam-buxton.co.uk
Yes, Adam is writing this himself using the third person.

It’s been a long, cold dark winter and I miss your voice, humour, irreverence and joy in all things Buckles. Can we have a sign you will be back in our lives soon. And what news re Rosie? You saved my life over lockdown and I’m forever grateful, thank you. What times they were eh? Know that life is richer with you and Rosie in it.

Listened to Adam for years and was a fan since the 90s. However over recent years, he’s become increasingly out-of-touch. His persistent use of trans and queer folk as a dogwhistle to express his anger at more progressive values. The pipeline to revealing his right wing views continued with the last podcast I listened to, when he attempted to rationalise and excuse Jordan Peterson and JK Rowling. And after all these years I deeply regret the time listening to this privately educated, out-of-touch liberal curmudgeon. Adams a problematic dinosaur struggling to keep the mask up; not an ally.

Well done on the award Adam. This is a great podcast, and Adam only ever goes up in my estimation. If ever I've felt a little down or jaded over the years Adam's various works have put me back in love with life.
Postscript: still loving your work Adam, just listened to the Paddy Considine episode. Top notch.

…spent listening to this podcast, which has kept me company on walks, while I’ve been travelling, and just pottering about the house. I’ve learned a lot from the guests, enjoyed the occasional musical interlude, laughed a lot, and developed a new appreciation for jingles. Your relaxed but informed interviewing style is really enjoyable Adam. Thanks for all of it. I’ve donated to St Mungo to show my appreciation of such eclectic and thoughtfully made free content. Cheers.

I was late to the whole podcast party and this was the first podcast I listened to having heard the hype and being a fan of the A&J Show. Oh the joys! Still enjoying the back catalogue. I love the jingles, Rosie and of course AB’s funny, sensitive and skilful interviewing. I always love when Joe and Louis pop up and the one where Louis sings Yes Sir I Can Boogie always makes me smile.

This podcast is my favourite by far. Always a pleasure. Very much enjoy every conversation, guests are always great and somehow I really feel like I know Adam and Rosie well.
I wanted to briefly caution against promotion of better help as one of your sponsors (as a therapist myself) - lots of really unhelpful reports coming from its users about privacy breeches, lack of therapist credentials and stealing the bios of real therapists. Lots of articles on this and the controversies of you have a wee google.
Thanks again Adam - cannot stress enough how wonderful this podcast is!

This episode was excellent. Paddy Considine is always a great podcast guest to listen to but the combination of you both in that episode just made it exceptional. A really interesting and insightful man and a tremendously talented actor, one of the best. Thank you Adam for constantly delivering such quality every time. In a sea of millions of podcasts, you are head & shoulders above them all.

Adam, I love your show. It makes my day when a new episode turns up. I listen to you when I am out with my best dog friend, Elmo (this sounds like the start of fan letter from my seven year old self) Anyway, wow, what just happened? I didn’t even know who Paddy Considine was until I did a quick internet search (yep, I recognise him) but this is such a candid, moving ramble chat and the comfortable energy between the two of you is a beautiful thing to behold. Thanks. Your output makes the world a better place x

.... an episode. Love this podcast! Great variety of guests. Highlights are the rap battle with Romesh Ranganathan and the high pitched singing with Louis Theroux (yes, for all the serious topics covered - which are always engaging and thought-provoking - the childish /stupid bits are the best! And the Jingle Jongles are great)
UPDATE Paddy Considine ep is great… PLEASE interview Shane Meadows!

Genuinely got me through lockdown. I was trying to keep on top of my mental health and embarked on a huge walking challenge. I walked (virtually) from Lands End to John O’Groats… 874 miles.. around Portsmouth and the South coast.. and you were my companion.. truly brilliant. I ended up walking 20miles a day to complete the challenge in 3 months. I raised £4400 for Tonic, Music for Mental Health. Thank you for keeping me company Adam.

Adam is a cornerstone of the UK comedy scene, and it is an honour and a pleasure that he has gone on to produce his quintessential podcast for us all to listen to free-of-charge. For me, what makes this podcast so engaging is Adam’s relatability. More than anyone else I know of in the celebrity sphere, Adam feels like someone I can relate to. For as long as this podcast (and any other public work Adam decides to do) goes on, I will support and cherish wholeheartedly.

I love you BYEEEEEEEEEEEE

Nobody needs convincing on how lovely this podcast is, that’s a given. I just wanted to politely request, after the Maeve Higgins episode, that Dr Buckles returns to the shouted ‘I love you, byeeeeee!’ ending. Fully understand that it may be a little jarring to those that have fallen asleep to it, however can those people really be classed as Quarter Masters if they’re not awake for it?! Big love to all.

Love your podcast but just wanted to draw your attention to a potential lawsuit…Dan Stevens has just played a super-smooth questionably accented sinister salesman in one of Guillermo del Toros scary anthology programme on Netflix and he is CLEARLY totally ripping your fantastic ‘Yanndrew’ character off! His performance is excellent but he should be crediting you if he is not already doing so.
Looking forward to the next episode. Also, apologies for the mental crowd in Inverness on your book tour.

Hello Adam, Don’t know if you’re interested but basically just wanted to say thank you so much for making some damn fine podcasts. A couple years ago (four years ago) I was very fortunate in meeting you briefly after a bug show. This was before the sad demise of our shared friend Mr. Bowie. It was also before my loss of someone very close to me, a person who was hugely instrumental to my life. The podcast’s thereafter were some fantastic pieces of broadcasting. I hope they were as consoling to you as they were to me! All the best and lots of love, Milo Forshall. xxx
