“You should write a book boy about all your travels”
My Grandma kept telling me to write down all the things that had happened to me over the years as a Cameraman. It took a Worldwide Pandemic before I finally got around to it.
But it’s not about filming.

A reminder of the unseen people who are helping all of us through the pandemic. And how grateful we should be to them.

What a beautiful piece of writing. Deeply felt, humane and profoundly moving. He must be a lovely man - I’m sorry to see he lost his wife recently. What a lucky woman to have known him. I loved the extract in the Sunday Times so much. A great writer.

Fascinating glimpse into the life of a delivery driver, but also all the people and places they go, and how everyone reacts differently to the pandemic. Brilliant to capture this slice of ordinary lives during an extraordinary period in the world’s history. Written with genuine warmth and humour. Love the little details about the thoughts and memories that were triggered by the sights, sounds and smells he came across. Very evocative. Wish he was my delivery driver!

I loved this!!
A completely different look into delivery drivers lives:
It’s funny humbling and also written to raise money for a cancer charity close to the authors heart:
Give it a read: it’s That Good
Deserves to be number 1

Some career change!

Fantastic to see this topping the Apple Books charts for its genre. Outstripping the next best delivery driver biography by miles (I think the Barack bloke in at no.21 does Ocado?).
An equal parts humorous and touching insight into lives caught up in the torrent of change brought about by the pandemic.
An extraordinary dispatch from a seemingly ‘ordinary’ job.

The life on the other side; the smiles and the sobering; a lifestyle change cope and adapt.
Exactly why Paul and his like, kept other lives positive. Everyone gets a badge from me (even the ones who don’t deserve it - to remind them!)
To be read and shared. Eric - ESP

A beautifully rendered and powerful telling of the myriad stories of pandemic Britain through the eyes of a very good human indeed at the less celebrated end of the front line. Now, with many thinking the pandemic is over, it could not be a better time to remind ourselves of the struggles and loss, but also the hope and moments of simple joy that played out. That are still quietly playing out. Read this book. Cry, hold your loved ones tight, remember those lost, but also smile and laugh. Paul Lang has distillied humanity into a refrigerated crate with tenderness, with, emotional intelligence and an experienced storyteller's eye.
This is like finding a new brilliant chippy. I want everybody to know about it, but I want to keep it all to myself too! But...everybody deserves the best chips.

A very special delivery

A warm, funny, sad and thought-provoking insight into the pandemic as experienced on the doorsteps of London by a Tesco’s delivery driver. The fact that this particular driver is also one of the country’s most respected documentary cameramen, forced to find alternative work when the TV industry closed down, gifts us a unique observational eye. This should be required reading for everyone who ordered a food delivery during Covid or stood outside to applaud key workers. Cricklewood was lucky to have Paul. Hollywood should pick up his story.

A beautiful and poignant read

This simple and beautifully written book opens yours eyes to the life of a key worker during the pandemic. Everyone has a story if only you take the time to listen. Sometimes we are just too busy going along with our own. Long May the kindness of many during the pandemic linger. Thank you Paul for sharing these stories. And your grandma was right. Now it’s time to write the ones from your filming days. I’d love to know how your key worker experience shapes your work going forward.

What a fantastic insight into the trials and tribulations of the fight for survival in these unprecedented times. From worldwide travel capturing breathtaking images in exotic locations, to driving a delivery van in the early hours on the North Circular in the dark, cold, wet winter months is a contrast so vast - it’s hard to imagine ! The fact that Paul makes this near seamless transition with a smile on his face, is truly amazing. His clients were blessed to have such a caring, sunny, amenable delivery driver. And little did they know. His stories are sad, funny and everything in between. Highly recommended.

A unique behind the scenes, real life tale of a delivery driver. Not only is Paul ex high end TV cinematographer and new to delivery driving … but he takes on his new job when work dries up… and during a pandemic. Fabulous!
