I am not impressed at all. It is very rare that you will be able to play a game online successfully. The only one that works fine is when you play against AI.

The game is done well but there is a lot needing changed for instance the games rigged it’s easy to spot after a few games it near enough always has the same outcome the amount of times you land on tax in 1 game is ridiculous the chance and community chest cards are just rubbish I’ve seen and had a lot of different cards in real life board game but this game just seems to give the odd few no where near the amount of cards you can be dealt in real life on the board game it’s like it cycles through a small amount of cards let’s say maybe 10 or so it gets boring the dice seem to be set to roll on a specific number depending on what numbers you can see on both dices before you roll it just seems heavily rigged and it’s unfortunate please update the game and try to fix this spent money on a game to be cheated so to speak try and sort this out please

Fixed. Because of the new iPhone models, we don’t get battery alerts anymore so my phone just turns off when it get too lower because of this issue whenever I’m in middle of game, the data is not saved so when my phone turns off. The game is also lost as well.

So I gave this a 3 star because I love Monopoly in general but there’s a few things causing it to not be higher than 3 stars.

1. I am experiencing the same bug over and over again. The game will be fine in the early stages but towards the end of a game where someone is due to become bankrupt, the game just freezes to the point where it is no one’s go. The animations in the background are still moving and working but it’s no one’s go. You can still talk in chat but nothing goes ahead. When you try to “refresh” the game by coming off and back on the app (without closing it) to reconnect it just stays on the ‘reconnect at the start of next round’ screen.

2. I love some of the customisable stuff, but there are no free things to be able to customise. If you could make things cheaper, or offer certain objectives or small free things to customise that would make it even better.

On another note, what would be a cool feature would maybe be like a daily/weekly mission or objective tasks where you can gain things for doing random “quests”. I understand it’s not the Classic Monopoly that was released but I feel it would be “keeping up” with other games.

Good app - any scope to increase to 6 players?

The game is good…when it’s working. There’s been too many times where everyone has to leave a game because it freezes and doesn’t go to the next turn, we can still use the chat yet the game just freezes. Also there are bugs that give a player an infinite amount of time to trade, so sometimes you end up just waiting for ages. The game is also just a bit slow, i feel like monopoly is already such a long game, it would be better if they made the turns faster, and when you land on properties it doesn’t show the ‘rent owed’ notification for so long.

The biggest issue that spoils this game is the rigged dice. The dice is not at all random and I really wish the developers fix that problem. It has been reported 100s of times in these comments by others. I can’t see why the developers won’t address this issue. It really spoils this otherwise wonderful game enormously.

The second issue is a vulnerability in the game logic which would allow two players to collude where one player gives all their assets to another player for free or 1 unit of currency only. This is basically allowing cheating and would ultimately spoil a 1-hour long game in an instant to all the other participants. I wish there was a way to prevent that.

This is a good app but unfortunately the stupid nature of the AI ruins it.

I regularly play online against a friend and she constantly exploits what I consider to be a glitch against the AI.

If you mortgage a property then propose a trade with the AI for an unmortgaged property in the same set they stupidly accept.

You can continue to keep doing this racking up money and saddling the AI with mortgaged properties.

It’s ridiculously dumb and unrealistic, no one in reality would ever agree to these types of trades.

Game costs £5 to buy , have no rules , no in-game report system if for example one player is just neglecting their phone and goes away or just don’t want tk play anymore after couple of turns there is nothing you can do , it will block your negotiations with that player as he is away abd waste you a lot of time. The game is nice but the lack of implementations of rules for turns and idling players is ruining it all. Then the worst part is that for a phone game this is very expensive and it doesn’t even hace support .

I’ve had this for a couple years now and I really enjoy the whole dynamic of the game and the different options of how to play.

There’s been a few issues though, sometimes it will freeze completely as I’m in the middle of a game and nothing aside from shutting the app completely will fix it, which of course means the match I was in is gone.

Also, I’ve been trying to connect with bubble and sign up but every time I click on it it comes up with a no signal/Wi-Fi sign, even though I am connected to Wi-Fi and it works perfectly on other apps. This is the most frustrating thing about the app, as I’d really like to track my stats and all that.

I rated this 2 stars a while ago but after several updates I’ve noticed improvements. The game has not frozen once and I’ve been playing from the start to the finish with no issues.

The only thing left to do to better the game. I want to see opponents win/lose stats and also sacrifice a bit of the back ground to zoom into the game board a bit, the text on it is so small I can’t read the prices and names on properties and I have good vision. It’s beneficial to read it while in full view.

When playing the AI players you will never win. The difficulty level is set way too high, as they always get to go first, roll doubles, collect extra money and swap properties between themselves so they can build houses and hotels. I see other reviews with feedback from the devs, saying why would they make it cheat to frustrate the players?! I don’t know, but they do!

Almost every time you start a new game you roll a 4 to land on come tax straight away. Even playing against 3 comp characters, each one dodges your square while you land on theirs each time. Makes the game very unenjoyable and frustrating .

The devs have obvs messed up their “random” dice rolls as no way this is a coincidence with so many other users having the same issue!!

Don’t waste ur money, stick to the real life board game!!

The only minor thing I'd ask the devs to fix in the classic game mode is that rent cannot be collected in jail, as per the actual classic board game. However, the massive major flaws are the constant game freezes in at least 1/3 games which leaves the player no choice but to quit, wasting hours of time and also no exp to be gained!! Another huge flaw of the online game mode is if another player rage quits, and instead of outright quitting, just leaves their game on idle; there is no inactivity kick/ban! Therefore, every other player wishing to continue must wait for at least 30/40 seconds of the idle player’s timer going down which is extremely frustrating from experience. However, these flaws are easily fixable. So if Hazbro truly cares about the game experience and fixes this, it would get a 5-star rating from me as I love monopoly. Online has so much potential as finding other people who love wasting 2-3 hours on a game are hard to come by in real life!

The dive seems like it’s rigged to make you play longer but conspiracy theories aside, allot of people just grief the game when they get mad.. they transfer everything they own to the opposition just so you don’t win which is really irritating and unfair. Grieving the game in this way shouldn’t be allowed but there is no report button. Also when players leave, rather than disconnecting them, they continue to play but are replaced by a bot. It should be made clear wether I’m playing against a human or a bot rather the game just goes on. If someone leaves then they should just be removed from the game. It’s fun to play when i know I’m playing against a real person and people aren’t able to just ruin the game. Unfortunately this is long possible in many games.

FUMING rn. this game is so fun, it’s vibrant, the animations are cool, it’s pretty easy to understand and navigate for someone who’s never played monopoly before (me lol) but the whole reason i bought this game was to play with my friend. when we’ve used that mode, play online with friends, the game has glitched EVERY SINGLE TIME and we’ve had to end it. we’ve played it together 5/6 times and not once has either of us won because we’re forced to quit about 45 minutes into the game!! it’s infuriating. i can’t remember all of the glitches, but 1) was that i was trying to do a trade, but i cancelled it and then it wouldn’t let me press any other buttons except for the trade button and the add houses button. didn’t give me the option to end my turn even after waiting over 5 minutes so we just couldn’t continue. 2) was it just wouldn’t let me end my turn, i was pressing the button for it, the screen would go grey (like it does when switching players) and then the end turn button came back. OVER AND OVER AGAIN. i’ve had enough. i’ll still be using the single player mode as practice but i am not impressed with this game and cannot believe i let it scam me out of a fiver🙄

I had the previous version which I paid for already although they were extremely cheeky with not updating but re-releasing the same game. Game is basic monopoly. - All the added graphics in the middle of the board is uncalled for and irrelevant. Paying £35 for the 'full' package is absurd. - They could have included some extra maps - They market the game with scenery's that cost real money and is misleading. If you're playing online - you cannot add friends to the party which means you'll need to play alone with friends and bots. Also, the game seems rigged online - certain scenarios ~ the odds of that happening whist playing on a board are so rare ~ But hey, a good pass time 🥴

The option of rejoining if disconnected is nonexistent - With all the money they've racked up, please improve the experience. It's the least we deserve. (Especially considering you've made me pay twice) - I should be entitled to a refund.

I do enjoy this game, but have real suspicion that all is not as it seems. In a game just completed I have had hotels on two groups of properties and on no fewer that eight consecutive trips round the board one of my computer opponents landed either one space to the side or in the gap between those properties. That’s bad enough, but on three consecutive trips I made round the board I landed on one of the same opponent’s hotels, only to then throw a double 1 and immediately land on another. Sorry, but if they’re random rolls of the dice my name is Donald Trump.

Another issue I have noticed - when I pull a card and have to advance to the nearest railway station, if another player owns it I have to pay double the rent. I believe that’s what the card says. I have noticed that the AI players if I am playing against the computer do not pay double. How is that fair and reasonable?

Why should I ever have to pay £4.49 to play on an English (UK) monopoly board? When I bought the game in English currency, in my English home from the English region of the AppStore. 4.49 for a grouped together pack of several countries’ boards is a joke when you’re only going to use one of them is an absolute rip off when it amounts to changing the name on the board tiles, not even a different board or two to sweeten the deal. It’d be fine if you STARTED with your home region’s board and then could purchase the others in such a pack but I have no ties to the American board and it means nothing to me and after having shelled out for the game I’m not going to nye on five quid for a tile pack in a cost of living crisis. I want a refund or a fix if possible and I’ll sort my review. Predatory DLC that.

Edit: respect to the devs though still, don’t want anyone thinking I’m slandering them for what was most likely a publisher decision. The game runs fine, the dice physics are fun and I don’t agree with various other negative reviews suggesting the game is rigged, nor did I experience any crashes. But decisions like not being able to use your own country’s monopoly board without shelling out near enough a fiver are anti-consumer and it’s toxic to the business so I’m gonna need a change or a refund.

The game is great because you can play with your friends and interact which is awesome and I love it! But if you play against the computer, it just cheats - all the computer players constantly land on chances & community chests and get free money, on the odd occasion that I land on them I always have to pay money out (EVERYTIME). Also the same player (the dinosaur) has landed on chance and then got a card to pass go 4 times in a row… so they are not landing on anyones properties, they are not paying out any money, they just keep skipping the whole board and collecting £200 everytime - it’s like the computer has decided that this is the character that will win and that’s it… Worst part is… I currently have the level set on EASY (can’t imagine what difficult would be like) - I’ve now played 3 games and everytime the T-Rex wins straight away, even though in one of the games I owned 80% of the board, but he just managed to skip everything. I however ALWAYS landed on income tax and then his property on EVERY ROUND!

Honestly, just disappointing for people that may just want to play by themselves…

This is a decent Monopoly game. It’s straightforward to play, looks good, and is responsive even on an old iPad Air 2. Seems reasonable value at £3.49 although the in-app purchases for extra boards etc are somewhat extortionate, thankfully these aren’t necessary to simply enjoy the game.

The house rules could benefit from some additions, namely:

(1) a rule that you cannot purchase property until you have gone all the way around the board once and passed GO,

(2) a rule that removes the limit upon the maximum number of houses, and

(3) a rule that allows houses and hotels to be sold back to the bank for their full price rather than the default 50%.

Also, where the “Free Parking money” rule is applied it would be nice to have an indicator of how much money has accumulated before someone lands on Free Parking.

Finally, it would be a lot more enjoyable to play online if a custom set of house rules could be applied, with the game seeking to match you with other players who have specified the same combination of house rules, or if that precise combination is unavailable then allowing the player to choose from a selection of other games that are as close a match as possible.

My sons and I all bought this at the beginning of the pandemic when they couldn’t visit. Now we still play it regularly - I am extremely vulnerable to serious illness if I catch covid so this game means we can all play while in our own homes. I love that you can customise the rules to popular House Rules, such as double money for landing on GO and bills going into Free Parking, to be won if you land on it. And a choice to automatically auction properties when landed on. Players can personalise themselves with a nickname and cheap in-app purchases give you a wide choice of pieces and boards. 2 years of playing it has worked perfectly. If I had to have one small gripe it would be that there aren’t enough houses. If we all have sets with houses on, sometimes we get stuck because you can’t just pay for hotels without filling up with houses first, (like we would if we ran out of houses in the physical game, so you either have to sell houses from one set for the benefit of another set, or we just kind of go round in circles and can’t advance our game. That said, we do prefer this to the physical game - no piles of money to try to keep neat, plus it’s shorter - with 3 of us it’s usually 45 - 90 minutes per game. This really has been a pandemic lifesaver and I highly recommend it!

The game is designed to last far longer than should be possible. I decided to take notes to see if it was luck or that there is scripting going on. This game took 17 complete passes to win.

1. I paid exactly £2800 in fines (including community chest etc)

2. AI paid £600 in fines

3. By pass 8 I had hotels on Navy blue, brown, orange and red.

4. AI did not land on any hotels until pass 15.

5. I went to Jail 5 times (twice in pass 8)

6. AI went to Jail 3 times (conveniently when he had less than £300)

7. AI bought 2 yellows and I paid over £800 across the game on these two squares.

8. I received £420 in “prizes” from community chest etc, AI received £730.

9. I paid £200 fine (on passing go) 8 times, AI paid £200 on 5 occasions (avoiding all my hotels in the process.

10. I paid hotel/house maintenance on 2 occasions (nearly bankrupting the 1st time.

Scenarios like this present itself in every game. I intend to screen record my future games for everyone to see.

This could be a great game. Graphics are good, UI is very friendly. Sounds are fun but this is all marred by (I hope a well intentioned) a weighted AI and dice to ensure a longer “fun” game. Monopoly could just change the game physics to allow for more realistic play and allow the user to decide the level AI bias.

Second time I have paid for monopoly on my phone. I still have the old version from about 6 years ago. Unfortunately it’s impossible for my friends to find so I have paid again so we can play together. There were a couple of bugs during trades. A friend couldn’t afford to pay a debt on my property. So I suggested a trade and I would cover what he owed plus a little extra to trade. The funds didn’t go over to him. Forcing us to quit the game.

Also when playing with others online they do not end turn. I would suggest a gentle prompt. Or maybe some sort of timer as again I have had to quit games.

I would also suggest a button that speeds up the ai players (this was an option on the old game). This is probably the only reason I am still using the old game.

Hope you appreciate the suggestions. Would love a voucher to buy a new board!

I love this game and enjoy it a lot as it reminds me of the old days when the family will get together and play the board version of it. HOWEVER, there is some room for improvement which will help weed out the sore losers who ruin the game for others. I have been in multiple online games where some players (sore losers) are not able to handle losing so they decide to just close the app or not roll the dice. There should be some sort of timer implemented or something so that if the player is inactive for X amount of seconds/minutes the dice is rolled on behalf of them and after 3 rounds of inactivity they are removed from the game - not sure how it would work if they land on a property and have to mortgage because they do not have the funds (maybe this can be done automatically for them?) or they miss a X amount of turns and if anyone lands on their property they do not have to pay rent (this will stop players from deliberately being inactive to miss turns). I hope the developers read this and take it into account on the next update as this is a really fantastic app.

P.S - For all you sore losers who cannot comprehend losing do not play this game as you are ruining the fun and I hope your Christmas is ruined because of this.

Anybody else think they’re not playing against real players? I suspect you’re playing against AI and/or the computer’s determining the fall of the dice and the outcome of the game. Why, whenever you start a new game there’s almost instantly, other players ready to challenge you? - this game is either unbelievably popular or the competition is computer generated! As someone who’s played online for a week and won spectacularly and lost dismally, I suspect the latter and am not likely to be playing it much in the future!

Added:- Persevered with this game, mostly to see how ridiculous it is. It the biggest fixer of games I’ve come across. In the last 3 games I played, which I was well ahead in, my opponents on each 3 occasions were near down and out, but miraculously, on turn after turn, the moves were blatantly against me, so much so that I generally could guess what each throw of the dice would bring - a total fraud!!

Having played this version of game for well over a year, it is without doubt that the game does not deliver the dice at random or fairly. An example of this without being biased due to the outcome of game result, is at the start of the game. I have now played hundreds of Monopoly games on this app and can predict that the first roll of the dice at the start of the game has a about a 75% probability that it will be a seven.

Going into the results side of things, if the game wants you to loose, you’re going to loose. On several games I have been in a virtually guaranteed situation of winning and yet loose. A typical example was my last game where I had several streets with properties on and my last remaining opponent had Mayfair and Park Lane as a set and about 6 other properties, three of which were stations. Not only did my opponent somehow manage to build up to Hotels on PL & M, but also went around the board at least 5 times carefully landing on the safe spaces between all of my vast quantity of .properties. Conveniently for my opponent, my dice happened to land me onto his remote PL/M hotels three times on the trot.

If you want a truly fair game of Monopoly, forget this awful app and play the board game for real.

Had the game a while now and love the gameplay each game is different had games last 20/30 minute and others lasting an hour or two. Love the fact you can play monopoly fast without having to worry about handling money and on the go. I do feel similar to others who’ve mentioned biased game play with some games tending to lean towards certain players where Iv had games with players landing on every property with multiple doubles mean while I’m hitting every non property and low numbers for multiple rounds the board. Still love the game. Suggestions would be introducing the ability to use custom game modes online with random people whether it be join random online custom games. Or have the ability to select a few must have features in a game lobby to join the basic house rules are fine but it would be nice to have house rules without having to end the game early online and not having to play against AI if You want them. Another suggestion is I like the idea of a season pass and being able to buy new pieces and themes it could be good to also include the different game modes of monopoly in the physical world such as sore losers, cheaters edition and longest game ever. Even if you had to buy them, Something to spice up different game

If you don’t mind having no genuine chance to win in 4 out of every 5 games then buy it, otherwise you are best trying something more mature in terms of game play.

I bought this three days ago and have spent a lot of time on it. When playing the AI single player, the game is pretty well unplayable. Even in Easy there is an anti human bias and loaded dice. It means that it is impossible to develop reasonable strategies or tactics. You end up winning around 1 game in 5, regardless of your strategy or experience. Strategy and experience are NOT recognised or rewarded. When it comes to human vs human it is similar, there is a bias against all but one player.

Now the Devs have come on and said its not true, but whether it was intended or not it does exist.

The game play experience is so poor that it renders the journey un-navigable.

The graphics seduced me, I thought they were indicative of a great game. Sadly I was wrong.

As for those graphics, there needs to be an option to play a flat board without the 3d environment. It would increase the speed of game play a lot and wouldn’t be unnecessarily visually invasive.

Overall, it appears that money was spent on the very seductive graphics to the cost of genuinely engaging game play.

I’d seek my money back if it was possible.

So that’s an honest review, I don’t normally bother but until game play is significantly improved its best to stay well clear.

I wanted to write a review because other reviews were so unfair, blaming their luck on rigged dice. It's as if they never played board games IRL. The game is very good. The AI is, overall, competent, but undervalues train stations, blue block and orange block, overvalues utilities. Would be great if AI responded to trade offers to show how close they are to accepting it, because IRL if I find a deal insulting I say so, to prevent wasted time. .... there were a couple of bugs. An eliminated player wasn't greyed out one time. Another time I touched something while another player was moving and I got a message about how I have no money or property (or something of the sort) which only went away when I reset the game. Also, Facebook. To play this online you have to agree that your location and web identity information will be sold to Facebook. Unacceptable! I didn't plan to play this online but if I had, I'd be seeking a refund.

I love monopoly and this is a great game, brilliant graphics and easy to use interface, personally I don’t feel like the game is rigged, I win some and lose others and sometimes the dice seem so unfair but when I play the game in real life it sometimes ends up being very frustrating if your having bad luck.

I agree with previous comments, some kind of leader board or point system where you can upgrade things or unlock new content would be an excellent addition, as once you’ve won there’s nothing to show for it. I was not impressed with pay to play new boards after making initial purchase. Maybe that’s something you can work towards with wins.....

Bought monopoly on the App Store as have played the board game a few times and liked it a lot and the app offers a great way to play it on the go. The game is beautifully made and the gameplay is smooth, however in my opinion and comparing it to the physical board game the dice are biased. On single player across multiple games it seems that you always land on your opponents valuable squares, which more or less makes you bankrupt quite quickly and it seems that it’s always the same AI character that wins, while you and the other AI don’t stand a chance. Even playing with other people I feel like the game is rigged slightly towards one player but the player that it selects is different every time, I’ve even had the winners of the game day to me that there is no way they should have won that. If you put the AI on medium or even hard then forget it as all it does is make you land on your opponents squares. Even so it’s a very well designed app with smooth gameplay. Well worth 4 starts but can’t give it 5 due to the biased dice and strategic moves by the game to push you onto your opponents squares. But definitely still worth it if you like Monopoly.

Overall very good, can quickly find a game online and seems to run smoothly. However it would be good if there was some online leaderboard that could rank players on performance etc. Also some issues during gameplay. For example, you cannot use your Get Out of Jail Free card if you don’t roll a double on your third turn, you have to pay the fine. Also, money from chance cards is not taken/given to and from others players, for example It’s my birthday, you get the 30M but the others players are not deducted 10M each and vice versa for the Elected Chairman of the Board, you are deducted 150M but the others players do not receive the 50M each. Other than that I cannot fault it so… :)

I have now been playing this game with my flatmate for around 2 months now, and I can confirm that it is definitely rigged. Every game a favourite is chosen, who will consistently roll exactly what they need to complete sets, or to avoid landing on other people’s houses or hotels. In all fairness, I have been the recipient of this bias a few times, however more often than not I am on the losing side. I really wish that they would fix this obvious issue in the game, so we could all enjoy an even playing field. Having said all this, I will still give it a rating of 5 stars, as every night me and my friend get sucked in to give it another go. It is a great game, we just wish they could make it fairer for all.

Overall, I love this game. I purchased the add on’s and love playing different boards and having a choice of pieces.

I agree with Daleboy that a leaderboard would add to the longevity of coming back to play again and again.

I would love to be able to view the boards in more detail, maybe if you could get to ground level and have a look at all the elements rather than just seeing it from a birds eye view?

Sometimes the game crashes and the whole thing needs to be abandoned, which is a shame when you commit to an hour or so of game play.

Having said all that, it is a true to life game, the boards and pieces are lovely. I much prefer this version to other computer games of monopoly I’ve played before. Thanks.

Now Im a huge fan of the game which was why I downloaded it. However there is so much improvement needed.

When playing there is no time limit on turns so if a player decides that they are losing instead of just quitting the game they decide to just leave the app so there is no way for their turn to end. This is left with all other players waiting. I waited HALF AN HOUR on one game just because I thought I’d leave it while I was watching the football. This happens way way way too often and it simply ruins the game completely.

Why dont you simply introduce a time limit on go’s so that players will have to take their go otherwise if their time limit runs out you can deduct some of their cash. Another idea is once its one players go give the other players the option to call time so there can be a time limit once time is called.

This one issue is really really bugging me about the game

I RECOMMEND YOU NOT TO PURCHASE THIS GAME until this issue has been resolved. Its really unprofessional of them to not fix this issue yet and it seems like they do not care about our views as there doesnt seem to be much done about it.

Another issue is that once a game has been won there is literally nothing else to do. There should be a leaderboard or a tournament or some other option as once a game is won we cant even see our own stats etc.

I love playing physical monopoly board game because whatever you get from dice you know it’s random and luck but this phone version definitely isn’t fair and all luck. when one particular player gets lucky they will keep getting lucky and keep missing other people’s property so they don’t have to pay rent but other players keep land on their property and I ve had so many times where other player have landed on chance and the card says to go to that lucky players property with lots of houses and the lucky player kept missing other people’s player houses for like 3 rounds. Or other player keeps going in jail so they never pass go to earn their salary which then they will not be able to build more houses or earn any money or they keep paying tax like 3 times in a roll I had in my experience. So the game chose its winner and keeps on giving them the right amount of dice! I regret paying £4 for this phone app!!! The irony is that you can say this is just life, someone always gets more luck but I m telling it doesn’t work like that! No one can be lucky all the time no one! You really need to fix this and make the app game fairer so not only one person keeps on getting lucky.

I have little doubt that the dice in the game is rigged when playing with AI. I’m not always against dice rigging in these types of games if it makes the gameplay more fun/skill based but I don’t really think it does - this just annoys you. Perhaps they should have a feature like in Ludo Online where you can see rolls from each player and how often each player is getting a double or certain number. You have a 1/6 chance of rolling a double and you have around a 40% chance of rolling a 6,7 or 8 - it just doesn’t seem that the AI plays by those rules most of the time. I also think that others aspects could be rigged, I saw in one of my games the AI was sent to prison 3 or 4 times in a row, twice from chance cards in a row and then twice from the tile, where it was in a part of the game where it was favourable for it to be in jail. I also wish there were options to reduce the turn times for AI and also to change the amount of starting money.

Just annoying really.

Edit: Also there seems to be a really annoying bug where the game freezes when an AI needs to sell houses to pay for a large rent. This makes the game even more infuriating because it’s often unwinnable.

This is a decent game so therefore gets a decent rating. While it does exactly what you would expect from a monopoly game, there are some things i feel could be improved to bridge the gap between the physical board game and this handheld version. One of these being the ability to see details of cards you own during other player turns, it’s fine if you attempt to do it in your turn as you can look at everybody's cards but are then against the clock to play your turn.

I would definitely recommend this as who doesn’t love a good family dividing game of monopoly though it does seem as though some of the “players” found online are just bots that make really illogical trades regularly. when put in a full game with real people it is very fun, though more could be done to improve conversing with other players, maybe an actual chat log and not the bone dry comments that can be made in the current game.

This is a review for people who are considering to buy this. First of all I bought this game the day it came out. I was very disappointed as their was a lot of just waiting around for players to play their turn, I assume they were experiencing server problems or other issues. This has now been mostly fixed however their are some glitches. One which I just got was I pressed to end my turn but the game just paused. I was still able to talk to the other players in game. However I think the best item for longevity for any game is adding rewards. What they should do is for instance if you win once with a certain character it gets a gold skin instead of the original silver skin. But ultimately they need to add a feature we’re the player wants to play to unlock something and that makes us the players want to play more. But overall this game is okay it is in a much better state than when it was launched. But once again to keep players playing and buying in game items to generate a revenue we need a items that are won from winning games

Love the game but no senes of progression and then it gets boring .. I always seem to get the short hand when playing online and seem to loose against other players .. perhaps Other players are better , it can’t just be bad luck as I believe this game is pure based on chance and luck so shouldn’t make much difference when playing online as opposed to computer other than the fact that it more difficult to make trades with realy players who want to dominate the bord .. but that’s just my experience .its so annoying when someone takes ages and then the whole game is put on holt always seems to happen when I’m doing well eager to make next move . I agree with earlier review to add leaderboard and leagues like loads of other games I play so you can at least win a game and it goes towards something especially since you have to pay for it in the first place it would make playing allot more meaningful especially in lockdown

Unfortunately as others have commented, there is something up with the dice and AI of this game. A early response from the dev says the dice are random, I suspect there is randomness but the AI can weight the dice so it’s more probably you land on numbers that fit the AI’s profile it has assigned to you. I agree with others that note it clearly chooses a favourite and absolutely punishes one player with the remaining players being given middling success. You can also expect if you have created your first houses to follow the field of dreams mantra. If you build it they will come. Overall it’s a real shame, everything else about the game is great. It’s fast, fluid and offers a micro transaction free experience. I would class the extra boards etc as DLC. There are no timers for instance. But like most monopoly computer games, the fun is short lived. Once you see the patterns and some truly unbelievable behaviour, you question every throw of the device being fixed, warranted or not and that just isn’t fun. If I were to bet, I would guess it is cheaper and easier to build an AI when it can control all aspects of the game than it is to create an AI that genuinely has to play and trade skilfully in response to truly random events.

This happens from time to time, after a few games the game decides to freeze while everything else is active. I’ve had this happen to me quite a few times and witnessed the same issue happen to my friends while playing together. The timer doesn’t help at all once it runs out it magically reappears never to run out again, even if I minimise the game hoping a bot replacement would atleast continue the game but never works. Its a big bug as the game is literally stuck even after the frozen player quiting the game. If it happens during the start its not a big problem until it freezes during a long lasting game which is just frustrating and annoying making it almost unplayable. I genuinely enjoy this game ignoring this issue while it is uncommon to happen it makes us players regret purchasing this game, it should run smoothly being a paid game.

I don’t usually write reviews but I have to here as so much time can be invested in a game and then it freezes. There is nothing more frustrating than having spent a good hour, going around the board, building up properties and when you finally have a monopoly and players are about to do deals and buy houses and the games gets exciting and the thing FREEZES - game over! I really hope you can fix this. Otherwise, it is a disgrace that you represent the world famous game of Monopoly and Apple should ban you until you can ensure this problem is fixed (sometimes happens after a trade request)

Rather than adding chat and other features, fix the freezes so players can finish a game!!!!

Add - ‘good game’ in chat as option once sorted freeze issue.

Make board slightly larger on screen, little small at moment on iPad screen. Give players an option to play without the detailed graphics if this means there is less chance of freezing. Graphics lite version to provide more chance of completing a game!!

I am a big fan of this game and love the graphics and gameplay. To the developers I would like to ask, do you intend to develop a leaderboard with different leagues at some point in the future? I’ve won a few games but don’t feel inclined to play again when all that happens when you win is a little message saying ‘you’ve won’. I think you would get a lot more people playing this game if there was a leaderboard with different leagues or at least something to play for. For example for every game you win you get a certain amount of points or money and with these points or money you could buy something, like for instance a new piece for the board or even a new board altogether instead of having to pay actual cash for it. Anyway overall I love this game, but don’t see the point of spending another hour playing a game once I’ve already won a game earlier on the same day. If I could climb a leaderboard and play for something, maybe I would.

This game could be so good! It's a shame that it crashes 50% of the time, forcing people to leave the game, you can be playing for an hour, to have it crash and ruin it for everyone.

Also, this game is obviously programmed to give lesser players a chance, the dice rolls are most definitely not random. If you are doing well, you are far more likely to land on other players properties, hit tax, get bad luck etc, but if you're losing and doing badly, you almost always miss other properties, collect money from chance, or get sent to go! I understand this makes it more interesting, but it's incredibly unfair and immensely frustrating when you are winning by such a long shot, that you get taxed every roll of the dice, get sent to prison, just so the game can allow lesser players to have a chance. It's about as random as these betting apps that tell you you have a 1/10 chance of winning £1,000,000.

Please remove this annoying and unfair feature, and please stop it from crashing every other game!

Sometimes the app will crash and I have to delete and download it again. Would like a couple more features available for its cost. Also (I know this is really little and silly) but if someone gets a a chance or community chest card and it’s says collect 50 each from the other players. They collect the money but the other players don’t loose money.

I really like the new update where you are given some cards at the beginning of the game,( could there be a new rule where all the cards are distributed) but sometimes when I clear it then come back it gives me new cards and gives some cards from sets that I had with houses on to other players and it won’t let me trade and I can’t collect all the rent for the houses and property *I* paid for

Other than that’s its really great

This is a good game but the issues stop it from being a great game. I have played multiple online multiplayer games now and at least 50% have been stopped due to player inaction or crashing. This is really annoying especially mid way through a game when things are starting to get interesting. I have read that you have added a timer but this really doesn’t stop some players from holding up the game indefinitely. The crashing is disappointing and when an ai player takes over your turn it is hard to load back into the game and it doesn’t work all the time. I was prompted to write this review as a game I was in just crashed mid way through 😠. I think you need to adapt this for digital media the board game was great but if a player misses there turn or timed out the should be increasing punishments miss a turn > go to jail > miss a second turn > 200m fine > miss a third turn leave the game and property returned to the bank. Needs improvement for such an expensive app!

Hi. I absolutely love playing monopoly however with the old version and the new version; considering I paid to download the app it keeps crashing. Sometimes to fix this I have gone off the app and gone back on and it has worked and sometimes the game just quits for you and you are no longer able to play the game. The new version, which has had some upgrades I.e the card dealing at the beginning a bit like quick play when you use the actual board game. However this version crashes way more than the old one. I’m extremely disappointed as it has happened three times in one day. An absolute joke to be quite frank. I didn’t pay to play for ten mins for it to stop working! Please sort this out. I’m using an iPhone X so it can’t be that my device us an able to handle the game. Please sort it out. As soon as. As I’m sure I’m not the only one it happens to as other players in the game experience it crashing on their devices too.

I gave it a 4 star because the issue of the game freezing in a online match sometimes and i have waited a good 10mins to see if anything happens also coming off and on app to reconnect and everything is still in the same place so that needs fixing for sure. Also a idea for making the game more interesting is if you add in a leaderboards to compete in and a stats menu so u can see how many games u have played and won and maybe highest amount of earnings in a game etc, maybe u can reward players that get the wins with coins or something and have it so u can slowly grind the game to unlock new features/ cosmetics and back to the leaderboards maybe having a weekly leaderboard and top 10 win bundles of coins or unique outfits etc overall game is fun to play when its working and hope u take the time to read this and think about implementing so new things :D

This is a great game, the UI is awesome and the gameplay makes the game more interesting.

My big problem is constant freezing in the middle of online games. It’s like the server hosting the game just stops as the board UI (cars/trains/choppers etc) still carries on but the physical game just stops.

The turn timer is a good function, but it still needs work as it doesn’t fully work always. Sometimes the timer runs out the the user is still holding up the game.

I have paid for the game as well as the season pass, would like to see the above issues fixed first before adding new boards/tokens.

I reached out to Marmalade Studios and got the following response...

“Unfortunately, the third-party service that we use for our multiplayer servers has been experiencing some problems caused by the heavy traffic load that it is getting due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This appears to be affecting some of our players who report being unable to play with friends, getting disconnected, among other network-related errors. However, players also report that these issues aren't permanent, and sometime later everything is back to normal.

We are doing everything in our power to address this and will be releasing updates to our games throughout the coming weeks to try and minimize the consequences of connection drops.

We are releasing an update this week that is supposed to help the disconnection and some performance tweaks.”

Since your latest update I can now easily purchase houses for the pinks on my iPad. Thank you. The only other minor fault is that it will hang from time to time and the only way I have found to get out of this is to come out off the game and back in again and AI will take over but you can continue on the next go. Otherwise I really enjoy playing it.

Old review

Due to the latest update it is virtually impossible to put houses/hotels on Whitehall and Northumberland Ave as the Houses tab opens up across both properties. There is a minute part of the property showing to try and put houses on and when doing so you invariably end up closing the buy houses tab. This is when playing on an iPad Air. Didn’t have that problem a few ago (before update)

Has the potential to be a great game! But dice roll IS NOT RANDOM

The graphics and UI on this game is amazing. Yes there’s the issue with the app freezing on the odd occasions but that’s not the thing that spoils the gameplay or fun for me. It’s the not so randomness of the dice. On too many occasions I’ve been suspicious of whether a dice roll has been determined before you roll. I’m a computer programmer and I don’t see why this function for a dice roll is not made random?! Just use the rand() function for whatever language the game is written in to allow a truely fair experience otherwise you wonder what’s the point in playing as negotiating techniques and strategy count for nothing. Fix that issue and we’ve got a REALLY good game. Otherwise I’ll go back to POGO and play monopoly there with friends.

LETS SEE IF THE DEVELOPERS REALLY DO READ ALL THE COMMEMTS FOR REVIEW AND DECIDE TO RESPOND BACK. OR ARE THEY PICKING AND CHOOSING WHO TO RESPOND TO?🤔

This has saved me and my boyfriend from boredom during lockdown in the UK year to covid19 pandemic. we’re playing online using my iPad and iPhone to forgo passing the device back and forth. We are very competitive but in a fun way and this app serves us perfectly for this. The game has frozen once but we just restarted it and it was fine again. Particularly fun way to pass the time especially now, we are encouraging our friends to download so we can do a virtual games night next week. At least this way no one can flip the table! ... Brilliant graphics too, it makes the game very visually engaging so brilliant for children too. My only bug bare is that we pay for the app but there are still in app purchases for things like themed boards and player pieces, but I understand the developers need to pay themselves somehow. Thank you!

Positives:

Great game, Great functionality, feels like the dice is decently random.

Negatives:

-Freezes and won’t recover 1 in 3 games. As previous review, it’s annoying when you’re 10 mins in, it’s infuriating when you’re 40 mins in.

-Chance and Community Chest cards do not function as per the proper game (shuffled, then drawn in order and card placed at bottom of the pile to cycle through again. The last game I played the first 3 chance cards were ‘Advance to Mayfair’ - complete rubbish! They are Monopoly, they are the experts...they should know better.

-The tab for mortgage obscures the oranges which is a bit annoying clicking it over and over when you are mortgaging/unmortgaging oranges until it finally works.

-More annoying is when trying to buy/sell houses on the light purple (Pall Mall etc) and the tab affects your ability to do it...over and over the tab goes in and out as you try to click the sliver of property around the tab with no houses added until your time runs out and you’ve not managed to do what you intended. It affects that group so badly I now avoid the set. Completely skews gameplay because of bad programming.

Maybe if those issues were on a free version but at £3.99 that should be pretty basic stuff to get right.

Those issues really take away from the experience of an otherwise 5 star app.

This game has a fully broken dice. It decides at the start of a game who’s going to win and who’s going to lose. Certain characters will land on multiple properties and even take sets by themselves, while other characters will go around the board 10x and not land on a single property that they can buy. It’s beyond a joke to be honest. A game like this shouldn’t be 110% luck based. There should be some skill in the game which decides the winner through smart trades ect. Instead you’re playing a game that favours one player, heavily punishes another player, and the other two are in between. They need to fix the coding of the dice that allows some fair gameplay land actual skill in the game. Currently it’s just a pressing the dice simulator and the winner is who ever lands on the most and most beneficial sets. Yesterday I played a game where one player landed on all FOUR stations HIMSELF. He then proceeded to take around 5000 in rent total by the end of the game JUST from the stations because every character was continuously landing on all station.. like what is that all about?!?! Where’s the fair in that?

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed playing this game. The graphics are great, gameplay is the good old monopoly we love & adore however while the game has no issues when playing offline or online with 1 other play, when it’s more players online the game tends to glitch especially during auctions. It may seem like a player is taking longer than usual but several times I’ve sat there waiting 5-10 mins for them to make some sorta move or to accept a trade but nothing. I end up having to close the game and wasting time getting halfway through and ending it. I’ve now given up online play - not worth the waste of time. Stick to offline and you’ll be fine.

Also one other thing that I miss from an older monopoly app is a statistics tab - that would be great!

Very frustrating...more than one hour into a game with 4 online players and I’m clearly winning and when it gets to the next players turn nothing happens! The icons in the background are moving and the internet connection is good but I suspect the player quits the game because he is losing and that seems to freeze play. It’s happened on several occasions. An AI should take over when someone quits and it should be announced. Also, there is no opportunity to communicate with the other players. Too much “noisy” scenery and not enough attention to some key aspects of play. Also, why does the Community Chest or Chance card say “Go to Mayfair and if you pass GO collect £200? The only way to pass GO is if you were already on Mayfair which wouldn’t give you a card so there is NEVER a situation to pass GO on the way to Mayfair!

Well I have decided to leave a review for this entirely unplayable game. There is a freezing issue where it just crashes and you can wait however long you want it pretty much waits until you quit and start again. Now that’s not very useful in a long playing game. I’ve had it happen when I first rolled my dice, which isn’t as bad as when you have been playing for a while. To restart then. But one of the most annoying things about this game is the ability for other players to stall the game when it doesn’t go their way. Now there are many children out there who love to do this. During making an offer if the player pauses they can freeze the game as there is no countdown to get them to make an action. If there is a frozen player no bot takes over to at least allow some kind of gameplay, all their properties essentially become locked out to other players. The children can keep making these frozen players transfer offers which just stops the gameplay dead. Continually. And that’s the ‘quick’ version of the game as the normal game is less likelier to complete. So if you really enjoy being stressed and enraged and demoralised all at the same time, unlike me who thought about smashing my own phone which I haven’t even thought about in a very long time, then this is the game for you!

P.S. Hope I didn’t pay for this game which I suspect I did since I love playing monopoly, I want my money back big time if I did! Crooks;-)

The game is very enjoyable - love the addition of custom rules and the overall game is very aesthetically pleasing, but it’s extremely frustrating when you’re 2 hours into a game and the game is forced to end as a result of the UI hiccuping and forgetting whose turn it is, leaving the game frozen with no way to recover.

This happened to us after a trade, it was still my turn, but all icons were greyed out and there was no way to progress: the game was forced to end about 90% the way through - super frustrating when you’re winning!

Please fix this, or perhaps implement an auto-save system for the host to restart the game from the last turn? It’s difficult to commit to a game of Monopoly when you don’t know if you’ll make it to the end!

For a game that was only very recently released, it runs very smoothly, with a UI which is very easy to use; embodying the traditional Monopoly board game.

The only issue is I have yet to complete a game due to being soft-locked, where the screen does not change. Similar to a crash except I can still click on my opponent's icons but nothing else works, which always results in my games having to end early through Quitting, or more commonly force closing due to frustration.

Edit: post-update

I have finished a few games by now, and while the chances of the game crashing and other display glitches - such as landing/buying property animations not moving - have decreased. I have still failed to complete games much more often than not, which is still very disappointing. Please make this game better and soon, we should not have paid for a game we cannot play properly. Four stars to three from me.

Edit2: 20th December

The past two updates have been successful in trying to smoothen the gameplay and reduce the crashes. The game is great. One question I'd like to ask the dev team is how often AI take over the game and suggest that there is a notification of when such an event happens. It has bothered me that AI has taken over the game so obviously but I have to pretend I'm still playing against online players. Can we change this? Back up to four stars again!
