One of George MacDonald's best-known works is a volume of poetry he wrote in the days following the loss of two of his adult children to death. MacDonald writes a seven stanza poem each day that reflects upon God, himself, and the world. He struggles in conversation with God - sometimes feeling despair, but always returning to hope and trust.
