I have benefited most from two features. Audio pronunciation which is an integral part. Another feature that is wonderful is the "word of the day" that keeps one in the learning mode. The dictionary readily provides the use of a word in a sentence and this feature allows the reader to comprehend the deeper meanings of a word in different contexts. I always enjoys learning different usages of a word. The new format of the Dictionary is highly appreciative as it gives a choice of setting up ones favourite words and to view them all when one wants.

I may add that the newer version is far more educative and allows one to mark ones favourite words. This facility in the Dictionary permits one to recall those words while writing a beautiful composition. It is the right words in a sentence that make the sentence beautiful. I wholeheartedly congratulate the editors who are taking the torch of knowledge forward with all adorable efforts that this Dictionary enlightens its users. The additionally available Thesaurus is a precious addition. Congratulations and the additions to Dictionary from time to time deserve high appreciation from us.

Though the app is good for learners, however constant ad makes it hard to use. On the top of it there should be an option to purchase the app with lifetime license instead of monthly or yearly subscription.

Comparison with google dictionary

The app is less time consuming than using google. It is beneficial for students preparing for competitive exams, bcoz after reading a multi-layered text with unconventional vocabulary, students can underline the new words and use the dictionary app to search the meanings in a single go.

The worthlessness of the App is high enough for a person to stop using it and come down to the App Store and write a review on it.

1.Why do you want to make money off a dictionary?

Why is there a premium version to this! It’s a defined dictionary, it’s one time development and once a year updation of words. That’s it.

Even if the developers are supposed to be compensated then why a subscription model! Why not just take a a few dollars and sell the app for life, Charge me whenever you update it with new words( The only real updates a dictionary needs)

2. Why can’t it work without the internet? If it can’t store the information ,(remember it’s just words, the smallest weight of data. No picture loading, nothing ) and has to access the internet to get the meaning, I’ll just type it on my browser and let google tell me the meaning and the pronounciation ( that too for free!)

Updates mess up previously saved favorites

I don’t understand why the updates mess up the favorites section. It has happened before too. A previous update wiped my entire list of favorites and this time though my list is intact, it shows me a stupid message “This definition no longer exists in Oxford word datebase” for so many of the words when I try to access them from my favorites (Though not for all the words in my favorites). Please fix this. Otherwise what is the use of favorites huh?

Struggling for premium subscription

Well its undoubtedly the most reliable source but whats the point when this is not designed to meet customers requirement.

By now i have tried to purchase premium subscription not less than 20-25 times and trust me no matter how cool my head is before i start this TASK after seeing “please wait” for so long my patience goes for a toss and i end up getting frustrated and cursing developers for this awful job.

Kindly provide me with steps to subscribe premium membership as i desperately need it.

Why there is a charge for Dictionary.

I have been using Oxford Dictionary for very long. Its been great help for me till now for free. Its ok with internet connection. But suddenly Oxford started applying charges for using it. From last 3-4 days every time i try to see any word’s meaning, first thing appearing is take yearly or monthly subscription. Why? I had to remove it finally.

Your subscription model is lame

I’ve been using this app for over 3 years now, for free without the premium features ofc. As the premium features were not very useful for me, the offline usage didn’t appeal to me in anyway.

But now with the subscription model you don’t even let us look up words? That means this application is useless when used for free. Besides, the subscription fee is more than what you were charging to buy it entirely (as in a one-time payment) before.

I just don’t think if paying for this is worth it in anyway, because Oxford Dictionary also has a website online which can be used for free.

Our journey comes to an end here, will switch to other online dictionaries now.

Great features but bugs

This is the only dictionary I’ve found with all the required features in one place- meanings, examples, origin and pronunciations. However, there are many bugs, for example a lot of words saved in favorites do not open when clicked. Oxford has lost its charm

I had high hopes when I dropped my favorite Merriam Webster and tried Oxford. It didn’t go so well. The experience is buggy, word searches mostly take a lot of time, the free app is filled with ads (and it takes a ridiculous Rs. 1,599 to remove them). What really irks me is that most often it takes a long time to get a result. The ‘waiting’ icon keeps on displaying and I see a blank screen.

I am switching back to Webster. It is light and does the job very well.

Very handy

It is very handy to have this dictionary, it helps me how to pronounce a word with voice quickly even offline ( no internet). Sometimes it helps me when I know the meaning and usage but don’t know the spelling , and of course synonyms of the words. Also navigating from one word to other and come back to the original word is easy.

Offline use

Please make it available for offline use. As my iPad is wifi only model everytime I have to search a meaning I have search dor a wifi connection. Using this dictionary on my phone with cellular data makes no sense as everyone has Google. Why take the pain of serching in your app, not that the meanings of words are drastically different. Offline mode really helps.
