Best media player, using since i started using desktop computers which is free and even adfree.. Great Job team. Also i don’t know why you guys not noticed PIP mode is not available on IPAD which is very much appreciated on bigger screens like IPADs. Even basic player like PLAYit has this feature which is recently introduced. Hence kindly look into it and do the needful.

Ever since the new update the auto rotate lock has not been working at all… now you have to hold the screen in horizontal position for landscape view… if by mistake the phone is held in a vertical position the view becomes that of portrait mode… please do bring back the screen lock option.. the option is there but not working … also the minimize button has been removed from the video ever since the update … plz do look into the above matters otherwise this is an amazing app..

Videos not opening from Files app in iPad

Why are the developers not noticing this issue. Last two updates are the worst in last 1 year.
The only way it’s opening is via opening VLC go to network and select the files from local which says open files without copying it to VLC.
That process is so manual and hard.
Quite a disappointment from VLC developers. I’ve been using this from many years but recently it’s making me think to shift to other services.

This is really great app but requires major bug fix which is, after pausing and replaying a video, the audio playback stops for a few hundred milliseconds, which is really annoying if you need to continuously pause and play. Also, at times audio is lost and after replaying its audible again.

There are 3 must have improvements needed for VLC iPad app, these missing features are really taking all the fun out of the app.
1) The video files are all clubbed into just one section called Videos, instead of showing the folders which makes organising video files a nightmare.
2) The orange coloured progress bar which shows up when a video plays, cannot be controlled by touch, it only responds to the magic keyboard’s touchpad. I mean..It’s touch interface device, why would you take best thing out of it..
3) When a video is played it goes directly to where it was left last time, there is no option to change it to play from beginning, should have an option for it.
Please make these 3 drastic improvements and make this app the perfection it deserves to be.

VLC is a great ad-free, malware-free media player that can play any media that even the iPad OS / ios doesn't support. It has many neat features that are only found in paid apps. Sometimes though it has minor irritating bugs. Recent BUG I discovered: Some Media (video) added to it (through iTunes files transfer) isn't shown in VLC for some strange reason. I can still open and view it through Files app but it doesn't show at all in VLC (perhaps because it is HEVC encoded videos?).

This is my go to application for media consumption. However, one tiny also very important feature is missing in the Ipad version , which is already there in the desktop version. It can recognise the synced subtitle or search for online subtitles. But there’s no option to manually select subtitle file from your local Ipad folder. And this makes media playback such a headache.
Battery drain!

For the actual video playing, this does the best job out of everything else. But the battery drain is way too high like suspiciously high. Half an hour burns away like 10-15% and I’m on an iPhone 13 Pro Max. This can’t be right? For context streaming Netflix for the same amount of time uses like 5-6x less battery (streaming vs playing off phone w encoding and all that Ik but like this can’t be normal uk)
Anyway props to the devs for giving us this amazing piece of software for free but please look into the battery drain.

Started looking for alternatives due to Apple’s restrictions on mp3. Found this beauty. It’s simple. It just works with everything you hit it with. I’m able to connect my drive accounts to directly download anything in VLC itself. That’s awesome.
I do have free feature requests though
1 allow swipe to play next song in music
2 Add a shuffle all button in some place for audio
3 make the music player interface little more easier to use. Example, make the buttons bigger & little centre aligned in audio player. It makes perfect sense for video but it’s very hard to use with audio only

No doubt it plays everything you throw at it. Used to play all my audio as well. But from past month, i play a song from playlist. After it ends, the next song doesnt play. It shows "live" on the seekbar along with song name, but complete silence. When i play the same song again by explicitly tapping, it does play without any issues. PS: i think the issue happens with opus files. VLC team, please look into this. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Am on latest version

VLC is my favourite media player for a long time and works really great. Then a few months back I got me a iPhone 12 and VLC works all the fine but the battery consumption is so freakin massive!! Like just watching a 1 hour video it consumes 25-30% battery which is just bonkers! Plus the overheating is insane, it’s gets so hot while watching and I have to remove my cover and leave the phone for a while to cool down. Please fix this!!!

This a great app overall. What I would appreciate is if you could make the subtitles option more accessible. I usually prefer watching movies without subtitles, but sometimes I need to enable them and disable them back to understand some lines I couldn’t catch. It would be a lot easy if subtitles are just one click away. And make it such that enabling subtitles takes you like 5 seconds back into the video, and disabling doesn’t.

I absolutely love this app, I use it on my iPhone for all my flacs, although I just have one small request, give us an option to choose if the audio file plays back from where it left off, cuz I’ve occasionally paused my music, hopped tracks and when I get back to the track I paused on, it’ll play back from where I paused it, I wish it’d just start from the beginning. Please make this a feature! All in all, absolutely love the app!

Update : This was fixed within a short duration.
Appreciate the speedy response. With the most recent update 3.3.8, playback speed functionality is not working with audio tracks. In fact, tapping the option of playback speed doesn't do anything. This is a very useful functionality for listening to audio lectures and other similar content. Please can you fix this urgently.

What used to be the undisputed best video player for iOS now fails to play 30% of my video files. Same file is playable on other competing video players. When basic functionality is broken, I need to look elsewhere. This was all right at the beginning of April 2022. Now things have gone south.
Can you give an option to make buttons bigger☺️

The buttons in the interface while playing a video is small compared to both my ipad size and my finger size..I get that having small buttons help most of people and also gives a better look but for people like me vlc could include an option for increasing button sizes😁😁if this gets done i promise to donate npo🫡

Love the update!
A shuffle option on top for songs and music playlists, instead of having to select a song first and then giving shuffle would make vlc perfect for audio too.
Can’t find Video repeat (loop) option or shuffle option

Worst Folder Management

This app is great for playing video .When it comes to arrange file and folder it’s the worst one I have ever seen. It can’t even show already arranged folder. When I grouping file into folder individually it crashes after 3-4 folders. And also the scrubbing is very bad. They tried to do a different thing but I think it backfire. I would be prefer the old style like km player or infuse type. The only reason I used this player because it support all types of video and audio format. Please fixed this things in next update.

This is very good and also sharing over wifi is much needed feature for sharing the files.
Also the recent updated which allow to play files without importing was much need and happy to see it. Also the smooth experience after the recent update makes it good
Cons-
Please fix the battery issue with app as it drains too much battery in the last version while playing.
-Please try to make interface more colorful if developers can do it
