Course auto play option is highly annoying. I generally have multiple courses and whenever I get doubt in any chapter I’ll usually go to that chapter and then close the app. Next time it doesn’t have to play that chapter again. It is annoying to close the last chapter every time when I open the app. Please set up an option to customise this feature. Whoever wants this feature can enable it or disable it from the setting.

Previous interface UI was perfect and seamlessly works on ipad and iphone. Now it doesn’t work as required. It starts from the lesson which you have already completed. When review any notes in the course in background you hear the audio of one the class which you have already completed. To review the course content you have to completely close the video then only you can access the course contents. Now it has became much painful to go through the course. Please update it as per previous interface or make it some good atleast.

Hi Dev Team, I’m using the Udemy app on my Apple tab from a long time, the right pane of the video was having course content so I could easily switch between chapters, however from last few days the right side of video pane is having notes which is causing inconvenience to switch to different chapters. This is really bad user experience. I tried creating a service case, but in vain. I would like to switch to old version of Udemy. The current version running is 8.49. Pls advice.

The recent new versions have lots of bugs, at least in iPhone 13 pro max, you can’t easily switch to course content or see on which chapter you are and not easy to move to another chapter which was available couple of months back by just clicking/toggling full screen arrow icon and the screen divided in 75:25 where video still plays and you can see course content in 25% area. Right now when you toggle full screen icon it take you to Q&A and to see course content you need to click on course content and when you choose any chapter it doesn’t sync with audio and keep the screen blank for sometime. Really bad UX.

Unable to view the course module listing alongside the playback for downloaded content. Earlier it was easy to navigate between them and delete modules as one completed it. Now the tick on top of RHS column to delete and launching the course content as an overlay increases the number of navigation steps and back and forth manifold. These latest changes by putting notes and resources and other fillers alongside playback instead of course module listing has marred the UX completely. Makes for a very frustrating navigational experience and also takes more time n back and forth in the process. So it’s not really an improvement but a setback. Hence my rating of two stars. Would’ve given 5 for the earlier design.

The newest updates seems to make my app unresponsive. I have to close it a couple of times before it starts working again.
Overall this is a good app and place to learn. Some of the trainers are very quick to respond to your questions, and some take a while. But the questions get answered one way or the other.

Despite the fact that the application is slow and behaves erratic it is usable and I can live with that. My biggest problem is I can no longer take screenshot of the video as notes. This kinda defeats the whole purpose of learning on the go and is so dumb. Even subscription based learning platform don’t block screenshot. I hope someone sees this and does something about. I am a regular Udemy user for last 5 years. It is good learning platform.
A recent feature/restrictions added by Udemy is ruining my learning experience. Now we are not able to take screen shot of the lecture as it is restricted by Udemy.
I always used to take screen shot while learning a course so that in future if I forget a concept/topic, I don’t have to watch whole lecture.
Now due to this restrictions I am forced to use other learning platform even though I have a corporate account of Udemy.
So it’s a request Pls allow us to take screenshot or it will we too late for the Udemy before it’s user switch to other platform.
One suggestion- Don’t allow users to record Udemy courses but allow them to take screenshot
by providing screenshot button in the mobile app and web application.

Extremely slow after the update. Almost tests your patience. Cannot access it while on the move as videos won’t budge. I downloaded this app to utilise my travel time for something productive. This app certainly does not serve the purpose.
July 2021 Edit: App remains the same without any improvements. Developers seems to be aloof of the customer feedback. Watching tutorials on mobile device is almost annoying to the core. I have spent so much in buying several different courses here but I cant use it at my convenience. I will start considering other similar platforms for my learning and would suggest new users to consider this drawback before putting money into udemy courses.

-First of all if any video paused for like 2 mins the video gets timed out and the screen gets total black and I’ve to close the course and again start the course video. Please resolve the timeout issue as i’ve to do practical side by side and it’s to irritating when I see the black screen and i’ve to firat close the course and then I’ve to start it again to resume.
-Other issue is of video lecture list shown on the right side. Like on the website the videos are collapsible to their respective categories but not in the case of iPad application. I’ve to scroll down so many videos to find the particular video as it would be much more easier if the categories were collapsible and could scroll through it and then when I find the category I could open that and find my video.
-Last major issue is that the lecture lists on the right side doesn’t shows the ongoing lecture automatically. When I initially start the course the video automatically reaumes but the list still shows the first video. I’ve to scroll down to find the video I’m watching.
Please resolve the issues in next update 🙏

The screen goes blank whenever I pause the video for approximately 1-2 mins. And the play button doesn’t resume the video. I have to clear the app from ram completely and then click on the video to resume. This is very frustrating as we pause the video a lot of times when learning to implement whatever the instructor says. The basic use case is being affected here. My device is iPad Air. Hope you fix it soon. And also I cannot set the video to 1080p. There’s only auto. I cannot see the text properly due to this. This also needs to be fixed

Good Platform for Learning but App has many Issues.

I use this app from last few years but today i seen there are many issues . First issue is sometimes app Showing No Storage please close all apps which run in Background and 2nd is PIP (Picture in Picture) option which is not working perfectly. Currently I am using iPhone 12mini 128GB which have almost 60% of free memory.
And sometimes app freezes when course playing.
Please fix all this issues as soon as possible.

Buggy application

The courses on Udemy are very good, however the user experience of this app on the iPad is not very good, there are a lot of bugs in playback.
For example, when I pause the lecture and try to play it after a while it doesn’t continue playing, I have to go to the previous lecture and click on the present lecture again in order for it to resume playing.
These are very annoying and request Udemy to bring an update rectifying these playback problems.

Positive: Amazing catalogue of courses - I looked for courses on Product Management (Coding, Design, Management) and found multiple high-quality packages for as low as Rs 400 (<$10). Kudos to the organisation for making learning so affordable.
Negative: Although the courses are high-quality and relatively cheaper, they take a life-time to load on certain occasions (more than 50% of the times). This is true for both, my Windows laptop and the iPad (8th gen). For some reason, even the downloaded lectures on the iPad Udemy app take forever to buffer. I feel it takes me at least ~2x more time, if not more to finish a chapter just because I keep refreshing the window over and over again.
Even the customer support bot is terrible! I wrote the same issue there but had to “resend” my messages, inspite of which, I did not receive any response.

Hi Developers team,
Looks like there is a bug in latest version. If I am pausing video for few minutes, it becomes black screen and it doesn’t play again when I press the play button.
To overcome this, I am going to previous video and then clicking for next video. Please fix this.
Please note that, I am reporting this issue on iPad 8th generation.

Whenever I perform some action, like changing video speed let’s say. The video pauses automatically. I like to watch courses at 2x but while playing I often change speed like from 2x to a.5x but each time I want to do this the video pauses which is very irritating. On desktop I can change without pausing. If not out right implement not pausing, at least please provide a feature in settings to disable enable pause while performing some action

Apple TV App Not Working

If anyone is buying courses from Udemy with a view to take the courses on an Apple TV, please stay away from Udemy and dont waste your money. They stopped updating the Apple TV app since 12th Oct 2018 (version 1.2.2). They are regularly updating the ios apps but Apple TV app remains at version 1.2.2.

Apple TV app is not opening at all. Please fix this issue ASAP because the purchased courses are not accessible from Apple TV app. Accessing course content from a big screen is important for some courses. Please fix this issue as a matter of urgency.
If updating the Apple TV app and making courses available on Apple TV is not your priority (or if you are not interested in the business), you must stay away from claiming on Appstore that Apple TV app is available. Please pull out the Apple TV app from the store so that customers are not mislead.
I am also notifying Apple Support on this misleading practice.

Can we have a feature where we can see the time remaining for an entire section of a course. Let’s say for an example, i am watching a video at 1.25x speed and i wanna know how much more time will it take for the entire section to complete at this speed , thenI should be able to see that. As a working professional, i set targets as per section basis and if I could see, how much time is remaining for an entire section to be completed considering my playback speed then that will be a great feature.

Hey ! I don’t know why but I have noticed that this application is getting crashed all the time after 3 to 4 minutes of using it.
I have deleted it and again reinstalled but issue is still the same. I have I phone 6,
All other application is running good means only udemy application has the problem, can you guys please check this issue as soon as possible...

Udemy kindly check and fix this bug the app crashes and screen gets frozen after few attempts gets into home screen but the audio playback is still running background even after removing it from recent after 5-10 times of pausing the video from control center the audio stops so please kindly fix this issue each time I’m forced to visit on my pc due to this issues.

Lot of course and material available on site, really great that’s why 3 star. Regarding app- highly dissatisfied. we can not smoothly complete one training from mobile app. Lectures stops automatically within a min or two. There is no forward, backward, pause option working either. Other navigation works okay except course material 😊. Downloaded video also have same issue. I can complete course only on laptop, hence no useful app at all. It needs to be improved significantly.

It's a good app overall, used to work well previously but when I'd installed it back again after a long while the home tab doesn't refresh at all and it keeps loading infinitely so, I can't search for any courses through the app. Also, the purchased courses tab shows nothing unless I go to profile settings and open email preferences then switch back to my courses tab. Please fix these somehow sorry I'm on an old iPad 4 and cannot install the latest iOS to get the newest version of this app.

As a developer, I think hardly take couple of minutes to develop this very useful and handy feature.
I am just looking for ability to sort notes by section in ascending order.
So that when I want revise I go from on section to another.
The wonderful thing will be this, if you accompany this sorting with one more dropdown where we can select section of the course (section not lecture), this will at least allow user to use notes properly on phone.

No matter how much I write about Udemy and compliment this resource, this boon to all of mankind (no I’m not exaggerating), it’s going to be less.
I have learnt more in a couple of months, perfecting my skills, than what I have learnt in the past 3 years of my undergrad.
Udemy not only changed my views on education (being from India, where education is more of a by-heart once, vomit later and pass system) but also got me interested in a field I didn’t even want to pursue at one point of time.
Not only have I been able to motivate myself, I’ve also been able to motivate my fellows.

I made a typo and created an account on wrong email. I dint notice this as i was using rem pwd. But once I deleted history and had to login, I was not able to get in. I tried forgot password. I never got any instructions on my mail. I tried contacting support, but dint receive any helpful info. I thought this was a lost cause and wrote a bad review. So, first I apologize for being hasty and then I thank the support team and I have few suggestions for the app team. The error messages are cryptic and don't convey what's wrong, that's not friendly at all. Next, can u add a verify account by confirm email, so that the user can understand his mistake soon. Also, your user creation is messed up. Has any body tested user creation module on a vpn ??? It tries to decide the user location and display currency based on the location on a computer (mobile doesn't do that, unless you trick the AppStore / PlayStore ) and you have to live with that location which makes it tougher to buy another course, since u have to go to the mobile and do the purchase which is a hassle, not just to your user, but your support team, no wonder the response from support team is delayed. I can imagine how they r buried under huge pile of request debts. I hope you guys will work on it. I like this app and want this to get better. Peace !!!

While trying to do payment through Apple I got errors several times. Therefore tried payment through website. The payment was done. Money was deducted and the page suddenly got unreachable error on screen. Within a minute a popup came on screen which had message that you were not charged anything. I waited for a week to get the transaction rollback thinking there was an error. Raised a support ticket to Udemy. I have received email stating that only gpay/ Apple payment are valid and bank transactions or e-statement will not be sufficient. If this is the case why do you even have that option. And is it you guys are saying that I wont get my payment refunded?

I cant seem to be able to use this app at all , first of all it takes ages to load the videos even with a stable and reliable internet connection , and even if it does the video only seems to work when the screen is locked , i dont know how thats even possible but im only able to hear the lecture, that too only if my screen is locked , this is quite frustrating and defeats the purpose entirely , how is a person supposed to learn anything if they cant even see whats going on in the video , quite disappointing

Disgusting App in terms of User experience

This is such a buggy application in terms of performance.
Some of my course lectures are not shown when I try to view it on the mobile app.
For example I am only able to see 150 video lectures and that too in a random order out of the total 600+ video lectures that my course provides.
Also downloading for offline use is not working as the downloaded videos are not displayed when I use offline.
Moreover when I use it in mobile app and rewind it back few seconds, the video gets stuck while the audio is still going on.
Very frustrated even by the web application as it gets stuck when I increase the speed of the video even when the video has already buffered and loaded till the end. Also sometime the video does not even go further and gets stuck.
Note to course providers :- Love the courses by the providers, but this app is frustrating. Please try to find any other alternative for your course which is not buggy as this application. Wasn’t even going to give 1 star rating but it won’t allow me to review without providing a star rating.
Note to Udemy :- Better fix the application performance or ask your developers to enroll in the courses provided by the content providers on your application and learn to make one good application which is not buggy as your current App.

Videos freezes while playing offline

My main problem with the app is some of the videos which I have downloaded while watching stops playback and stuck on screen...I have re downloaded it again and again but no any way it fixes, i am using iPad Air 3rd gen.

The courses are very good in Udemy with n number of options to choose. Also the categories are broad that helps in developing career, helps in passion, and may art forms. It’s really a good platform to learn and to start a foundation. But the mobile interface is very bad. Certain videos do not play and you have to jiggle between videos to play them. The mobile application has to be improved a lot else all those wonderful courses will stay put and not be delivered. Poor children who cannot afford a laptop, like children who studies from mobile phone are facing troubles. This must to be rectified in mobile application.

Had paid for a course but couldn’t get the course on iPad, even after a week , got in touch with Cs was asked to forward the screen shot of payment I failed to provide this as I am not a computer savvy person. My payment was made using my credit card and if Udemy has received money it should definitely be visible on their bank statement, any way I lost my money about ₹799 and feel cheated. Good content with bad mobile app

Downloading the content is very bad. Does not download in background so if i have to download complete course i have to make sure my mobile does not sleep and it takes hours to download a typical course. Also when I receive a notification the video screen goes blank and i have to close app and start again such a waste of time. Also it always starts playing video as soon as i click on a course image in my courses even if I only want to see list of lectures. I am sure Udemy can improve the app in its current state its better you watch tutorials on laptops rather than mobile as app is very poor compared to other competitors. I would switch to other providers if they had a few courses and instructors that are here on Udemy, till then i am stuck with this poor app. I have wasted lots of money in buying courses and now i have no option but to use this pathetic app. For new people please dont buy courses here until and unless you dont have any other options. Just avoid this platform of Udemy. They should give refund to everyone and shut down their services.

Erratic behaviour for downloaded lessons

App behaves erratically while watching downloaded lessons. It keeps removing downloaded videos if I’m watching while connected to wifi or data. I’ve to disable wifi & data if i want to watch downloaded videos otherwise app will remove next one in the list during auto playing. The movement it finds that I’m connected to internet it removes the download and attempts to re-download/play it from internet.
To avoid this happening, I’m forced to disable wifi and data if I want to watch downloaded videos. Even if I disable the internet, the moment app finishes playing one lesson and starts to auto play the next lesson it again attempts to check for internet and removes the download the moment it finds that there is no internet connection. To stop this happening I’ve to pause the video in the end to stop it auto playing the next one. Then I’ve to manually select and play the next one.
Maybe app always attempts to play video from internet. But it shouldn’t do this. If the video is already downloaded then app should just play it directly from the local memory instead of attempting to play it from internet. Check for the internet only if video isn’t downloaded. Leave the option with the end-user to let them decide if they want to re-download a video to get the updated one.

The video playback function doesn’t really great

While loading the lecture or pause play or just fast forwarding say 15-20 secs, the playback functionality is really bad. It does waste my time just to load a new lecture. I do think it’s the main functionality when a student subscribe a new course. Please upgrade and fix it.
Addition to the above the app is behaving weird. When I am connected in wifi then the lecture is not getting started and its continuously spinning. If I switch to any of my background apps then the video is getting started normally in background. It’s sort of weird and ridiculous behaviour and performance. Please try to fix this.

I am a regular user of Udemy, and I love the functionality of the app, but it is so buggy, I find it very difficult to use it in most cases. The offline videos don’t play most of the time and it just says loading and goes on forever. Sometimes the play button does not work, the app in general is not very responsive

The courses provided are great and illustrative ....but for any reason your device switches off( maybe you forgot to plug in the charger or you’ve updated to a newer OS and the device has to restart) I’m automatically logged out of the app and when I login again...voila...!!!...all the downloaded lectures are gone...swiped off clean....my work involves lot of travelling and it’s not possible for me to be in continuous network connection....and it’s a overwhelming amount of download data...please do something about this issue
