This game is generally excellent. Layers are spoiled for choice with "normal" plagues, "special" plagues and scenarios. There are a wide variety of countries to infect, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. The human response to disease is very well thought out. (Also, look to the news for funny messages!)
My main issue is that the same basic strategies and priorities (hint: Transmissions first) can easily (if slowly) get the player through most of the freely unlockable plagues (with the possible exception of the Necroa Virus) and the Black Death scenario. The basic 7 plague types are not very well differentiated, and there are only 2 special plagues.
I don't know much about the scenarios as they are all beyond a paywall (except Black Death). As far as I can tell, they cannot be unlocked through winning the other plague types. I think I'll pay for them at a later date, if they require truly different strategies.
Finally, some of the iconography is quite lo-res for a Retina display. But that's a rather minor issue.
This is a really fun game, well worth the low entry price.

It is one of the apps for me which didn't make me regret after purchase.
Each step had a different strategy and the combination of strategies possible are amazing.
