Fonts are not set as default fonts which was earlier in previous version, every time in every news size of fonts needs to be re selected.

This update has restricted subscribers to read e-papers in vertical mode which is really annoying, not mentioning those unnecessary add ons to the UI.
A simpler UI was working fine and it would be desirable if the update reverts.

The previous version's UI was much better.
The reading mode was far better in the previous version as opposed to the window pop-up.
Previous version gave more flexibility regarding text-size. This newer version offers insubstantial options when it comes to text-size.
Reading just felt better!
The pages tab in the bottom felt much more natural as opposed to what this version offers…
One hoped only for a night mode option in the update but that still remains elusive.
Please, go back for the former UI. It provided much better reading experience. (Maybe with night-mode reading option this time round.)

The app has improved it UI tremendously, the seamless transition from the paper view to the articles. Even the editorials and gists in the Text & Context portion has been cleaned up very well. The only qualm I have is with the news in numbers section. It would be great if it could highlight the numbers in the article format as it is in the print format.

Why did the developer downgrade the ePaper app only to vertical mode? The landscape is more easier to read while not holding the device the entire duration of reading the ePaper. The device itself is weighing more than paper so please add landscape mode. Having paid for entire year 2023 subscription and landing myself to read only vertical mode will be discouraging.

Suddenly the app won’t work, daily news paper stopped releasing. Contacting the customer support was as ineffective as ever saying that the app doesn’t work on ios. Where as I just have iOS. There should have been proper mention of this before purchasing of the subscription.

The app is quite good in terms of its clean look, excellent zoom function, and bookmarking capability. The problems I’ve faced are (i) the edition doesn’t update early enough (say by 6 am) and (ii) Sunday Mag section has a centrespread which doesn’t appear in this app. Sometimes it hard to find and open supplements.

The app is opening the Saturday’s news paper on every Sunday. There times I complained to the support system of the Hindu e -paper. Even though it gets corrected by the evening I am very much disappointed. I love the Hindu newspaper. I love reading the Hindu newspaper in the morning. Since I am living in Jagdalpur, C.G , where the Hindu print newspaper is not available, the only option for me is to read the e- paper. 1. Can not see Account Details in Settings. After clicking Account Details it just shows blank white screen.
2. On some days , by clicking(touching) on an article zooms it and gives a separate text view of the article.
On somedays, it just doesn’t work. No matter how many times you click on an article it doesn’t show it as a separate text in a window.
3. Dark edition needed!
Fix these issues. It is not expected from such a good newspaper to have such a poor app.

These days majority of us would read daily articles on iphone/iPads throughout the day . Being Constantly subjected to the bright light of the screen make eyes strained . It would be really helpful if you could give a dark mode feature on the app so that oled screens would do justice with the texts and at the same time lesser strain on the eyes . Also perfectly dark isn’t required here( it’s odd) , ndtv website type greyish dark settings is perfect fr the comfortable reading experience while at the same time being energy efficient fr the greener planet earth .Thank you !

However the desktop version reflects my subscription.

Advise: Never buy subscription of The Hindu, you will cry, beg but will never be able to read. Apple should ban this looter

I have purchased the subscription for a year. The app behaved properly for a few days. I tried to browse newspaper it prompted for login. It didn’t accept Google option provided in the page but I have to type manually uid and pwd. After it showed the details and I’ve verified my subscription I tried to browse the paper. It lost all my login credentials and again prompted to login. FYI, I have been trying for last few weeks. Extremely frustrated. I never had such an issue with any of my previous apps.
Can’t believe that the quality of this app is so bad. Developers/ Testers of this app please debug and test it properly before publishing it. Pls don’t spoil the reputation of this paper.
Nice App to read ePaper on iPad. But it needs split view support for easier note making.

Hindu and BL epaper apps logins suddenly shows I’m not logged in or not registered user. I have un installed and reinstalled the hindu app and tried restarting. And logged in several times using the subscribed email and pwd.
Still while selecting a paper it shows error “ logged in, but you dont have a subscription “
I have purchased BL + hindu epaper for one year 2 weeks back. This is least expected from THP. May be should hand over the app development to some other people who knows their job. This is such a shocker from a publishing house which claims to uphold all the great virtue’s . Please give a usable user experience for the amount I invested. Or kindly refund.

Thankfully I was only in trial version of the paid app to see if it is worth the investment, and as it turns out the app definitely isn’t, even though the newspaper is good. I tried to read a newspaper and the file got downloaded in the app without an issue but when I tried to read the article individually it got stuck in the “loading page” page. I tried to browse different articles and each time the page froze and I wasn’t able to move past it so I had to terminate the app in order to come back to the app, and the cycle continued, making the app experience extremely bad. I gave it 2 stars just because of The Hindu’s reputation, but the app itself is very bad. Please don’t charge so much money if you cannot provide a good reading experience.

It is great to read The Hindu being located in a remote place. Getting a print edition on same day is impossible but made possible with this app. One can read any single news after tapping on it, it can be saved for future reference or shared too.

Hi,
I really enjoy reading the ePaper over the hard copy, especially due to the feature using which we can open each article individually, increase/ decrease font size and read..
But one feature which can help some students like me is the ABILITY TO HIGHLIGHT some lines, which we feel as important as we read, in the article and bookmark them.
Trust me, this will save a lot of time and will be very helpful for many.

Paid for the annual subscription which is 1500+ rupees and haven’t been able use it even a single day. It doesn’t let me log in and customer service doesn’t respond to any email ever. Mailed them more than thrice and no response.

The app is good but it is creepy as every time I log into the app a different phone from a different location logs into my gmail account. This has happened multiple times as I didn’t understand why this was happening. But after observing this for a while and changing my password multiple times I realised that it was happening whenever I log into the app. I thought this was extremely creepy. I am also not sure if this app is from Hindu or if it is a fake app.

Every time I have to log-in the app with my email id and password, which is time consuming. Also when I try to log in with my Gmail account, the screen displays that it is not a safe browser to log into.
The Hindu, you really need to take account of this matter seriously and fix the bug immediately. The Indian Express’ in-app E-paper works flawlessly which I’m forced to read after facing these issues on your app. Also they send E-paper on Whatsapp every morning.

The app is good. There are almost all features a news app can have. But there is room for something more. I would personally love to see night mode on the reader. It is also puzzling why I can’t save an article as a pdf from the reader directly. If printing is permissible then why not exporting it as a pdf? People can write on a physical newspaper, why can’t they write on a digital version of it if they are opening it on an iPad? I would love to see these small additions.

Further, the recent addition of “Text & Context” segment in e-paper is laudable. Hope you make it a regular feature. I also request The Hindu to make the “Text & Context” feature available in physical copy also.
However, some improvements are needed
1. Making e-paper available by 6am.
2. Provide image & pdf download option for individual news items.
Suggestion:
1. Making FAQ segment a daily segment instead of only on Sunday’s newspaper.
Resolve the issues as yearly as possible.

I suggest you to kindly make provision in the app so that it shows time while reading the newspaper. Which I think will help a lot of users like me who have to complete reading in a specific time.

Dear The Hindu while the idea of an app exclusively dedicated for e-paper is superb but the roll out of your app is poor. It’s 7:50 am in the morning and the ePaper for the day still has not been uploaded. I’ve tried logging out and then logging in back but no joy! I’ve tried logging in through Safari browser but strangely after log in it is asking me to select a subscription even though I’m already subscribed for yearly 1,299 for e-paper. Please solve these technical issues as soon as possible. It’s frustrating to miss out on newspaper early in the morning.

I thank the team at The Hindu for bringing this e-paper version on to the App Store. Even though we get the print newspaper every morning I hardly read the paper but the introduction of this e-paper has changed that and now for the past 4 days I regularly read the editorial and op-Ed pages. The formatting is nice and more enjoyable than the print.
The issue I found annoying is the login issue and once I logout, logging back in was a problem and I had to delete and install the app to be able to login again. Please look into this for the IPadOS. Also I am unable to find the Sunday magazine.
