A greatest-hits collection with a twist: the hits are ten complete albums

These albums trace Miles' Columbia years, from the drop-dead cool of 1957's 'Round About Midnight through his first and second great quintets to his early '70s fusion adventures. A newly experimental period begins with the freer rhythmic explorations of Miles Smiles. With Bitches Brew, he brings the innovations of Hendrix and Sly into his newly aggressive mix. By 1972's On the Corner it was all about rhythm, with Miles taking new cues from minimalist European composers and British progressive rock.
