A collection of four solo tracks from the veteran K-pop group

It’s rare for a K-pop group to release an album featuring only solo songs, but aespa’s SYNK : aeXIS LINE offers listeners an opportunity to get to know each member more personally—especially given that KARINA, GISELLE, WINTER and NINGNING co-wrote their songs. Korean vocalist WINTER and Chinese vocalist NINGNING keep things soft and introspective, respectively, on “BLUE”, an acoustic pop track about the importance of facing one’s emotions, and “Ketchup and Lemonade”, an R&B-infused pop song about feeling lonely in a relationship. “Tornado”, Japanese Korean rapper GISELLE’s tropical house track about the chaos of love, speeds things up, but it’s leader KARINA’s album-ending “GOOD STUFF”—a confident hip-hop track declaring, “I don’t need the hype, I’m one of a kind”—that is most reminiscent of aespa’s singles.
