Getting introspective about their work as a multi-member creative collective, Ghanaian outfit 99 PHACES give us a mellow, playful look inside their process—and, in a way, their coming of age—on THE KIDS ARE JUST FINE.
“This Up Next selection means the world to us. It’s proof that the late nights, the doubts and the grind are all worth it,” 99 PHACES member Anabel Rose tells Apple Music. While that grind comes through on tracks that recount their tricky beginnings like “MILLION DOLLAR DREAMS” and “BETTER DAYS”, there’s immense joy and calm to be found too. “MELODY” is a blissed-out love story, while “DANCEFLOOR” tracks the best of nights out (that they confess nearly swallowed them whole). Like a diary of their creative endeavours, their relationships and their growth, the result is an infectious listen.
