A return to form for the Mexican star, with some tumbados twists

After breaking out with “Adios Amor” back in 2016, Christian Nodal embarked on a still-ongoing campaign to diversify his sound. Following two eclectic volumes of his PA'L CORA EP series, which added hip-hop hybrid and bachata fusion to his impressive repertoire, the música mexicana star returns with a short album stylistically closer to the mariachi and norteño styles he previously made his name with.

Songs like “Ni Se Metan” and the profoundly heartbroken title track burst with accordion panache and his soaring vocals. There’s a tenderness to his balladry on moving opener “Amé” that never feels performative, an admirable quality mirrored on the sorrowful Alfredo Olives duet “Se Vienen Días Tristes.” Building successfully beyond his perceived core strengths, Nodal also links with key figures from the corridos tumbados scene as well, projecting prurient interests alongside Tito Double P on “La Loba” and sharing frustrations opposite Netón Vega on “EBVSY”.
