LA’s J Rocc has been a pivotal figure in hip-hop since the early ’90s, when he founded the Beat Junkies crew with Melo-D and Rhettmatic. Later on, the DJ, producer and turntablist extraordinaire would find himself at the centre of the Stones Throw label, DJing alongside Madlib and Dilla while also helping to usher in an era of instrumental hip-hop and lo-fi beat music.
