A deluxe version of Einaudi’s 2013 album, complete with bonus tracks

The Italian pianist Ludovico Einaudi incorporates both cinematic and literary aspects into his memorable, atmospheric pieces and has based his projects on works by writers including Virginia Woolf. For In a Time Lapse, Einaudi seeks out American poet and philosopher Henry David Thoreau.

The track “Time Lapse” percolates in a primordial electronic fog before a rush of piano, carefully placed electric guitar lines, and sustained strings. “Discovery at Night” carries the melodic style of 1970s piano-based rock, while “Waterways” captures the constant flow of water through a gentle, synthesised bass drum. Violinist Daniel Hope solos on “Life”, “Orbits”, “Experience” and “Underwood”.

This deluxe version, released in September 2023, includes bonus remixes of eight of the album’s tracks.
