Themes of optimism and unity invigorate songs for the dramedy
For Bollywood family dramedy Raksha Bandhan, Himesh Reshammiya plays to his strengths as a composer and singer who knows his way around traditional Indian music. Tracks like “Tere Saath Hoon Main” and “Tu Bichhde Toh” highlight Nihal Tauro’s graceful vocals. Shreya Ghoshal’s voice soars on the title track and alongside Arijit Singh on “Dhaagon Se Baandhaa”—both songs being throwbacks to the emotive ballads of the late ’90s and early noughties. Modern pop and electronic flourishes are used sparingly but to skilful effect, as on the dramatic “Kangan Ruby” and the playful “Done Kar Do”.
