Shout-along rock and a searing ballad for the Tamil thriller

Composer and singer Anirudh Ravichander brings the right amount of oomph, adrenaline and soul for Tamil action thriller Vikram’s soundtrack—a sublime combo of cinematic rock, pop and electronic sounds. Although he provides his own vocals on all five tracks, the rhythmically rich opener “Pathala Pathala” is carried by actor Kamal Haasan’s inimitable voice. Stirring ballad “Porkanda Singam” ropes in Ravi G in a similar role, while “Wasted”, “Once Upon a Time” and the title track are charged by gritty, grandiose electro-rock.
