Having almost single-handedly popularised a vibrant new wave in Mexican music, the Rancho Humilde singer continues to show and prove as more and more artists enter the arena, with his blessing or otherwise. After pivoting towards streamlined modern hip-hop production on June 2020’s Trap Tumbado, the resplendent young king of corridos tumbados reacquaints himself with the genre he first made his reputation in. The invigorating yet spare instrumentation and street-level lyricism of Soy El Nata standouts “Yo Ya Sé”, “10 Segundos” and the restless “Noches de Desvelo” recall everything fans came to love from his prior hits. Frequent collaborator Ovi joins for two tracks, with “Yo Le Batallé” bringing back the duo’s “Pacas Verdes” vibe and “Pa’l Que Dijo Que No” nodding back to their respective trapero skill sets.
