The best of the band's swirling, soul-drenched early years

Though it didn't contain their most commercially successful crossover hits, Funkadelic's early-'70s run of albums on Westbound Records set the band on its course to fame and acclaim. This collection spans those eight albums on Westbound and includes their finest lesser-known jams: the churning, sinister soul of "Cosmic Slop," the groovy ensemble pop of "You Can't Miss What You Can't Measure," the narcotized blues-rock of "I’ll Bet You." Superfans cite this era as Funkadelic's best, and this comp represents it well.
